I am a Ph.D. candidate studying non-equilibrium statistical physics at Seoul National University, South Korea (advisor: Prof. Yongjoo Baek). I completed my Ph.D. defense in June 2026, and now finalizing my dissertation.
Using the theoretical tools developed from stochastic thermodynamics and coarse-graining techniques, I mainly study the flow of energy, matter, and information within nonequilibrium systems such as active matter, and how they affect the performance and collective behavior of those systems. Furthermore, my study on rare events aims to observe unexpectedly well-organized dynamical structures in stochastic systems (including active matter) through the lens of large deviation theory.
I am also interested in statistical physics of learning machines (mainly using stochastic dynamics and spin-glass theory including Gardner's formalism), actively seeking the opportunities to bridge myself toward those research topics. I am especially interested in connecting the theories to the concepts like flat minima and mode connectivity. Furthermore, I am interested in theoretically tackling the current challenges of AI, such as continual learning, unlearning and efficient learning via unconventional computing.
