Yong Chao is Professor of Economics at the University of Louisville. His research in industrial organization and applied microeconomic theory examines how pricing, vertical contracts, and platform strategies shape competition and welfare. His questions are often motivated by real business practices and antitrust cases.

His work has appeared in American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, The RAND Journal of Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, International Economic Review, Management Science, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Economic Research Journal (《经济研究》) and Management World (《管理世界》).

He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California. He is a recipient of several research awards and grants from Microsoft Corporation, NET Institutes, China's Ministry of Education, Li Ka-Shing Foundation, and Pei-Kang Chang Research Foundation.
