Week 1
Week 1
Game idea
For the very first week we were making sure that we knew every detail of our game and for everyone to know what there roles are in the project. The initial idea was to make a racing game and for our theme to be based around Japan. After further conversations we also made the decision to make it low poly style as it would be hard to go for a realistic theme. We also realized that we needed to figure out what software we are going to use. I was originally going to use 3ds max to model my assets and make the terrain in unreal engine 5 but the coders said it would be better if we do the maps in unity so they could get on with coding the AI.
Story
The story for our game is not deep or has any significance as the game is built around the mechanics, gameplay and environments. before we could start anything we had to get our idea allowed by our teacher in which case i came up with a proposal and a timer planner all the way through from 1 to 12 weeks on how our game was going to be made.
You can find this proposal and time planner here
Proposal reflection
Overall, I am satisfied with the amount of content I put on there and with the level of detail I had on my time management. to make sure that this was up to standard I asked multiple teachers for feedback and took it into consideration to better my self. Unfortunately, our game idea had some slight alterations which included changing it from an open world to only doing race tracks and for our aesthetic to be a low poly look that would often be found in games aimed at a young target audience.
To improve I would spend more time planning everything out as a team and making sure that the goals we were setting were capable in the time frame that we had. Not doing this left us changing our game idea slightly further down the line which was causing delays on the other things that need producing.
