Welcome, and thank you for visiting. I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, and I have been practicing and teaching yoga since 2003. I love to share the benefits of yoga with others and I hope you will join me on this path to create balance, wholeness and joy through the art and science of yoga. The word yoga, comes from a root Sanscrit word Yog, which means "to yoke" or "to join", and in this practice the body is used as a tool to align the mind and create space for the spirit to flow freely. My mission is to create a nurturing, safe space for others to experience all that yoga has to offer, close to home, in Ferndale, WA.

Update: Online Classes will continue until Whatcom County has officially entered Phase 2. At that point check the schedule to see which classes will be offered in the studio!

Haven't tried online classes yet? It's a fun way to stay connected to your yoga practice and your yoga buddies. You will still receive excellent, even personalized instruction - and you get to do it right at home! I'm available via email, phone or a private zoom meeting to answer questions and help keep your practice moving forward. We need yoga in our lives more than ever right now . There are so many benefits to regular practice - stress reduction, immune support,, mood enhancing and it creates another channel for us to connect with ourselves and others.

New to yoga or just getting back into yoga after an injury or illness ? Or, are you trying to manage a chronic illness - and not quite ready to start in a group class? Private lessons are ideal for students who need extra support and individuals lesson plans. Private instruction is also really effective in addressing individual musculoskeletal problems or areas of concern. Some students may choose to do a few private lessons then enter into a group class, and others continue to use private lessons to stay on top of their physical and mental health! I am here to help you develop the strength and confidence you need to get to where you want to be.

IYENGAR YOGA BASICS - Monday, 6:30-7:45pm

This class is open to all students and will focus on alignment and technique in standing and seated poses. Flexibility not required! Suitable for beginners and Pre/postnatal students. ,

YOGA ESSENTIALS, Wednesday, 6:30-7:45pm

A mixed level class focused on building core strength in supine, seated and standing poses. Sit quietly, stretch deeply, and enjoy the opportunity to tune-in to your body and heart.

GENTLE YOGA/BACKCARE, Wednesday, 10:00-11:15am

This class is for designed for creaky knees, stiff backs and tight hamstrings! Whether you are healing from an injury, need a slower paced class, or have never done yoga before but always wanted to try it - this class is for you. We will use chairs, blocks, straps and other props as needed to safely enjoy the benefits of yoga!

More about Meg:

Meg Sutton is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and has been teaching yoga in the Bellingham community for over 10 years. In addition to her new Ferndale classes, she also teaches at Yoga Northwest, Bellingham's only Iyengar Yoga studio. She teaches a variety of classes including beginning and intermediate classes, Gentle Yoga and Restorative Yoga.

Meg has always been passionate about the relationship between body, mind and spirit. She studied dance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she was introduced to yoga in a class that included performing artists from all disciplines. From early on, she fell in love with the poetry of yoga - a quiet practice with ample room for physical and spiritual exploration, a practice which is both compassionate and challenging, and ripe with of wisdom and heart. She finished her studies at Western Washington University's Fairhaven College, and then devoted herself to studying yoga in Iyengar Yoga method. Meg is also a Physical Therapist Assistant and has had the privilege of working closely with several wonderful physical therapists. She enjoys working with many different populations of students and helping each individual find insight and growth through the practice of yoga.

Private Lessons

A private lesson offers the unique opportunity to work on specific challenges related to an old injury or a medical condition that can make attending a group class difficult. Through her experience working as a physical therapist assistant and years spent studying yoga with excellent Senior Iyengar teachers, Meg is able to provide a number of tools to work therapeutically with her students. Private lessons are tailored to meet the goals of that individual student - be it improving posture, balance, or strength - or, they can provide a safe, nurturing space to learn relaxing, restorative poses and other techniques to boost your well-bing.
