Short Biography
Yoga Suhas is a postdoctoral fellow at the Carleton and the Tronto Metropolitan Universities. He graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) with a doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2025. His research focuses on developing AI-based IoT solutions, optimizing immersive communication networks, and exploring emerging enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) paradigms for 5G and beyond.
He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2014, followed by a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence from TMU in 2021. After completing his undergraduate studies, he gained five years of hands-on industry experience as an IoT architect, developing robust IoT stacks for dairy and hospitality companies and impacting over 200,000 customers with innovative hardware and software solutions.
Since returning to academia, Yoga has further honed his research expertise while bridging industry and academic research. His work has been published in leading conferences and journals, including IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE WF-IOT, IEEE TNSM, and Electronic Commerce Research and Applications. He also serves as a peer reviewer for esteemed publications such as IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communication, IEEE Open Journal of the Communication Society, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, Journal of Supercomputing, Scientific Reports, and the computer applications stream of Electronic Commerce Research and Applications.
In 2024, Yoga was honoured with IEEE Toronto's Emerging Outstanding New Leader Award and the IEEE Best Team Award at the IEEE Leaders of Tomorrow Workshop.

I work with IEEE Fellow Dr. Lian Zhao at the Ubiquitous Intelligent Communication and Computing (UICC) labs at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and Dr. Jie Gao at School of Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Design, Carleton University.
I serve as Secretary of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Chapter at the IEEE Toronto section. I am an active member of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) and IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc).
