제목: An introduction to quasi-homogeneous varieties and their rational curves

초록: We introduce smooth projective quasi-homogeneous varieties, especially symmetric varieties and horospherical varieties. They have an algebraic group action with an open dense orbit and have finite closed orbits, so-called spherical varieties. Our main interest is the family of rational curves on smooth projective quasi-homogeneous varieties. Under the assumption of Picard number one, the families of minimal rational components are also smooth projective quasi-homogeneous varieties. We use these families of minimal rational curves to solve characterization and rigidity problems. This talk is based on work with K.-D. Park and based on work with J. Hong.

제목: On the Waring rank of some homogeneous forms

초록: In this series of talks, we consider the Waring rank of some symmetric tensors or homogeneous polynomials over the complex numbers. First we recall basic definitions, some preliminary methods, and its relation with other fields of research. We also review some previous results for bounding the rank due to Landsberg-Teitler, Ranestad-Schreyer, and others. In the second half, we focus on the case of complete symmetric polynomial for a given degree and a number of variables. I introduce some known results and techniques for them and also discuss the case of ternary symmetric polynomials in more detail, which is an on-going work with Z. Teitler.
