Mater Dei Game Recap and Highlights
Great win for both teams against Mater Dei! Despite having a slow start in the first game, we managed to buckle down the defense and move the ball on offense.
The first game was highlighted on defense with a lightning-fast rush from Allison Jochum and backed up with a great defending lead by Mac Slemmer and Bella Silvestri. The girls had to get a stop at the end of the game to get a win and they came through to lock in the victory.
The offense started to move the ball this week despite a few dropped balls and false starts ( hmmm). Kendra Minsky put the ball on the money and we need to make sure to catch and secure the ball. We finally put some points on the board after being shut out last week. Let's keep the momentum going through this weekend against EL Modena and Esperanza.
In game #2 the defense got a shutout lead by a fast rush from Alyssa Felix and backed by great defending and quick flag pulling from the corners. Lili Sebestyen almost had a “Pick Six” that would have put us up by 18.
On the offensive side Blair Habbestad had two touchdown catches and was the highlight of the game. Vivian Jimenez and Faith Saba also had great catches to get us first downs and keep the drive moving. I can see the confidence growing among the team.
