If you want a rugged, vacuum-suction mount built for the bumpy reality of city driving and long commutes, choose YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder; if you need a lightweight, dual-sided magnet solution designed specifically for gym equipment and portable hands-free viewing, choose UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount.
• This pick is for drivers who prioritize absolute stability on rough roads and need a mount that doubles as a versatile stand for office or kitchen use.
• UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount: Its biggest strength is the dual-sided magnetic design with an elongated base that attaches directly to metal gym racks and treadmill frames without adhesives; its trade-off is that it lacks a vacuum suction mechanism, meaning it cannot be used on non-metal surfaces like car dashboards or wooden desks without a separate adhesive pad. This pick is for fitness enthusiasts and travelers who need a compact, foldable holder that fits in a gym bag and sticks securely to workout machinery.
The YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder is engineered for people who demand reliability above all else. If your daily routine involves navigating congested city streets where sudden stops are common, or if you occasionally take your vehicle off-road, this device is built to handle the stress. The core of its design philosophy is durability. It utilizes metal materials in multiple structural parts, reinforcing components that typically fail in cheaper mounts. This isn't just about looking sturdy; it is about surviving drop tests without cracking. When you are holding a phone worth hundreds of dollars, the peace of mind that comes from knowing the mount won't shatter if you bump into it is invaluable.
The suction mechanism is what truly sets this product apart for automotive use. Unlike standard rubber cups that rely on simple friction, this model features a gel-type vacuum suction cup. This means even if you hit a pothole or drive over a speed bump at high speed, the mount stays locked to your dashboard or windshield. It works on smooth surfaces like glass, marble, and polished leather, and even handles textured surfaces better than many competitors because of the rotary locking mechanism. You do not need sticky pads that leave residue behind; the gel does the work.
Furthermore, the adjustability of the YLBV offers a premium tactile experience that feels substantial. The 360° rotating base and the 210° dual-axis foldable metal arm allow you to switch between landscape and portrait modes effortlessly. The unique folding design reduces the size by 50% when not in use, which is a clever feature for keeping your car interior tidy. The metal pole produces a satisfying "click" sound when adjusted, signaling that the lock has engaged. This level of engineering suggests it is meant for long-term use, having been tested through 10,000 repeated folding and rotation cycles. If you are someone who uses their phone in multiple environments—gym, kitchen, office, and car—this single unit replaces several specialized stands. However, it requires a flat surface to attach, so if your dashboard is covered in peeling vinyl or uneven textures, you may find it difficult to secure without a clean area.

The UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount takes a completely different approach, focusing on versatility within specific environments rather than brute-force adhesion. It is designed primarily for the gym, but its utility extends to any situation where you need to attach a phone to a metal surface quickly. The defining feature here is the dual-sided magnet system. With a powerful 25N base magnet and an 18N MagSafe-compatible magnetic ring, it clamps firmly onto treadmills, squat racks, and other metal equipment. This eliminates the need for suction cups entirely, solving the problem of mounts falling off slippery or textured gym floors.
Its portability is another major selling point. The elongated, flat base is designed to fit perfectly on gym equipment, and the entire unit folds down for easy storage. You can slip it into a gym bag, a golf bag, or even a large pocket without it taking up much space. This makes it an excellent companion for travelers or commuters who might want to watch a video while waiting at the train station or record themselves during a quick workout session outdoors. The 360° rotation combined with a 180° multi-angle folding design ensures you can find the perfect viewing angle whether you are lying on a bench press or standing near a treadmill.
However, this design comes with a significant limitation regarding automotive use. Because it relies on direct magnetic attraction to metal, it cannot stick to a car dashboard unless that dashboard is made of exposed metal, which is rare. It also lacks the vacuum suction capability of the YLBV. If you plan to use this in a vehicle, you would likely need to purchase a separate metal plate or adhesive mount to create a surface for it to grab onto. This product is best for those who view their phone mount as a portable accessory first and a car fixture second. If your primary use case is watching videos during workouts or using your phone as a timer while lifting weights, this is the superior choice.
• Best for gym and metal equipment → UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount: The dual-sided magnets provide immediate attachment to racks and machines without needing to find a flat surface or worry about suction losing grip due to heat.
• Best for multi-room versatility → YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder: It functions equally well on a kitchen counter, an office desk, or a car windshield, thanks to its ability to adhere to various smooth surfaces without adhesives.
• Best for portability and travel → UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount: Its foldable design and smaller profile make it easier to pack in a bag, whereas the YLBV's metal arm and larger base make it bulkier to transport.
• Best for durability and impact resistance → YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder: Reinforced metal parts and drop-test certification mean it can survive accidental bumps better than the plastic-heavy construction of the UGREEN.
• Best for hands-free recording → UGREEN Magsafe Phone Mount: The 180° folding range allows for unique angles ideal for recording workout form or following a recipe on a metal oven door, which the YLBV's fixed arm structure doesn't match as easily.
• Best for wireless charging compatibility → Both: Both include metal rings for non-MagSafe phones and are designed to work seamlessly with MagSafe devices without interference.
• Best for long-term stability on textured surfaces → YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder: The gel suction adapts better to slight imperfections on dashboards than the flat base of the UGREEN, which requires a perfectly flat metal plane.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases for both devices, I believe the YLBV Magnetic Phone Holder is the stronger overall investment for the average driver. While the UGREEN is a fantastic tool for the gym, the YLBV solves the most critical pain point for mobile users: keeping a phone secure while moving. The vacuum suction technology provides a level of security that magnetic-only bases simply cannot match on a car dashboard. In my opinion, the YLBV is the better choice for city driving because it handles the vibrations and sudden movements of urban traffic with ease. It transforms from a car mount to a desktop stand without losing its integrity, offering a robust solution that justifies its weight and size. Unless your primary need is exclusively gym-based, the YLBV offers more value through its adaptability and sheer holding power.
The YLBV requires a smooth, flat surface for the gel suction cup to create a proper vacuum seal. While it can handle some texture, highly curved or peeling dashboards may prevent it from adhering securely.
No, the included metal ring is designed specifically to enhance magnetism without interfering with wireless charging signals or mobile phone connectivity, provided the ring is placed correctly.
If the suction weakens over time, it is usually due to dust buildup or dryness. Simply rinse the gel base with clean water to remove dirt, pat it lightly dry, and reattach it to a flat surface to restore the vacuum seal immediately.
It is not recommended for windshields because it relies on direct contact with metal. Without a metal surface to attach to, the magnets will not hold the phone, and it lacks the suction cup mechanism found in the YLBV.
