7月27日（日）15時30分、予定より1時間半遅れて、横浜市テニストーナメント「シニア男子60歳以上」の決勝戦が始まりました。対戦カードは、我らがYITCチームとGODAI白楽（上海虎）という好カード。今回新たに創設された「60歳以上の部」の初代王者を決める一戦です。40歳以上の部では、男女とも惜しくも初戦敗退となりましたが、60歳以上の部では、1回戦（3-0）、準々決勝（3-0）、準決勝（2-1）と、粘り強く勝ち上がってきました。当日の最高気温は32.8℃、暑さ指数（WBGT）は31℃と「厳重警戒」レベルに達し、まさに過酷なコンディションの中での試合となりました。

第一試合（宮崎／松山ペア）　松山さんがサービスゲームを落とし、0-2とリードを許す苦しい立ち上がりでしたが、宮崎さんのサービスで流れを引き戻し、5-4と逆転に成功。次のゲームで二度のマッチポイントを迎えたものの、相手の粘りにあい5-5に追いつかれます。それでも、緊張から解き放たれた松山さんがサービスをキープ、最後は相手のサービスゲームをブレイクし、見事7-5で逆転勝利を収めました。

第二試合（金井／大石ペア）　新しく張り替えたラケットがしっくりこない大石さんの調子が今一つで、またも0-2のスタート。しかし、大石さんが元のラケットに戻すとプレーが安定し、金井さんの弾丸サーブも威力を発揮。流れを引き寄せて4-4に追いつき、そのまま6-4で勝ち切りました。

第三試合（薛／藤原ペア）　堅実な守備で相手のミスを誘った薛さんの活躍もあり、3-0と初めて最初からリードを奪う展開になりました。しかし、薛さんが攻めに転じた隙を突かれて5-5の同点に。そこから藤原さんが冷静に試合をコントロールし再びリズムを取り戻した薛さんの守備が復活して、最後は7-5で勝利しました。

結果は3勝0敗と完勝でしたが、いずれも手に汗握る接戦となり、緊迫した決勝戦となりました。試合会場には、多くのクラブメンバーが応援に駆けつけ、一丸となって戦う姿が印象的でした。初代王者となったYITCチーム、来年の連覇にも大いに期待がかかります。

Match Report: 62nd Yokohama City Team Tennis Tournament Finals - Men's Senior 60+ Division

On Sunday, July 27 at 3:30 PM, the finals of the newly established "Men's Senior 60+" division commenced after a 1.5-hour delay. The featured match pitted our YITC team against GODAI Shiraku (Shanghai Tigers) in a battle to crown the inaugural champions. While YITC had suffered first-round exits in both men's and women's 40+ divisions, their 60+ team fought valiantly through the bracket - sweeping the first round (3-0), quarterfinals (3-0), and edging the semifinals (2-1).

Players battled under extreme conditions with temperatures peaking at 32.8°C and a WBGT heat index of 31°C ("extreme caution" level).

Match 1: Miyazaki/Matsuyama Pair:

After dropping service games to trail 0-2, Miyazaki's strong serves sparked a comeback to 5-4. Though squandering two match points at 5-5, a liberated Matsuyama held serve then broke opponents to clinch a dramatic 7-5 victory.

Match 2: Kanai/Oishi Pair:

Oishi's new racket caused early struggles (0-2), but reverting to his old equipment stabilized his play. Combined with Kanai's bullet serves, they rallied to 4-4 before sealing a 6-4 win.

Match 3: Xue/Fujiwara Pair:

Xue's impenetrable defense built a 3-0 lead, but aggressive plays backfired as opponents leveled at 5-5. Fujiwara's composure and Xue's defensive resurgence secured the 7-5 clincher.

The 3-0 sweep belied the match's intensity - every set was a nail-biter. Dozens of club members created an electric atmosphere, cheering their team to this historic title. As inaugural champions, YITC now sets sights on defending their crown next year.

6月8日、第75回中区子どもテニス教室が開催され、4歳から小学6年生までの子どもたちが参加しました。

前回（4月）は雨で中止となり、今回もコートコンディションが心配されましたが、名コートキーパーの日頃のメンテナンスが功を奏し、山手公園には無事に子どもたちの歓声が響き渡りました。

ボランティアコーチも数多く参加頂き、会員の皆様のご協力に心より感謝申し上げます。

子どもたちの笑顔にコーチ陣の疲れも吹き飛んだ一日となりました。

On June 8, the 75th Nakaku Children's Tennis school was held, with children ranging from 4-year-olds to sixth graders. Although the previous session in April was canceled due to rain, and there were concerns about the court conditions this time as well, the diligent maintenance by our skilled court keeper paid off. As a result, the cheerful voices of the children once again echoed through Yamate Park without any issues.

It was a fulfilling day where the children's smiles made all the coaches' fatigue melt away.

5月18日、第37回International Doubles Tournamentが行われました。

前日の悪天候のため1日順延となり、また、当日もクレイコートのコンディションが心配でしたが、長田さんをはじめとするコートキーパーのプロフェッショナルな整備のおかげで、開催することができました。コートキーパーの皆さま、大変おつかれさまでした。

参加人数80名、参加国は16か国となり、クレイコートでは、熱いゲームが繰り広げられました。

試合はMen’s Doubles、Mixed Doubles、Consolation Matchとあり、6つのコートで試合が行われました。とてもレベルが高く、大きな歓声や拍手がところどころで湧き上がっていました。

Men’s Doublesで優勝したのはMr. Ohira Ryo & Mr. Ho Steveペア。Mixed Doublesで優勝したのはMs. Goto Yuka & Mr. Scherer Thomasペア。それ以外にもBest Fighters Awards、Fair Play Awards、Best Dresser Awardsなど、オリジナルの賞が作られており、トロフィーと豪華賞品が授与されました。

また、メンバーらによるBBQが振る舞われ、選手たちや来場者もビールやYITCオリジナルカクテルを片手に試合や会話を楽しんでいました。

YITCでは、今後もコミュニケーションの場として、国際交流活動を続けていきます。

On May 18th, the 37th International Doubles Tournament was held. Due to bad weather the day before, the tournament was postponed by one day. We were also concerned about the clay court conditions on the day of the event, but thanks to the professional maintenance by Mr. Osada and the other court keepers, we were able to hold the tournament. Our sincere thanks to all the court keepers for their hard work.

Eighty participants from 16 countries competed in heated matches on the clay courts. The tournament included Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Consolation Matches, played across six courts. The level of play was very high, and loud cheers and applause frequently erupted throughout the venue.

The Men's Doubles champions were the pair of Mr. Ohira Ryo & Mr. Ho Steve. The Mixed Doubles champions were the pair of Ms. Goto Yuka & Mr. Scherer Thomas. In addition, original awards such as Best Fighters Awards, Fair Play Awards, and Best Dresser Awards were presented, with trophies and luxurious prizes.

Furthermore, a BBQ prepared by the members was served, and players and visitors alike enjoyed the matches and conversations with beer and YITC original cocktails in hand.

YITC will continue its international exchange activities as a place for communication in the future.

2024年最後の中区子供テニス教室を、12月1日に開催しました。

52名の子供が約2時間の間、YITCコーチのレッスンを受けました。

今年は計4回、延べ人数240名を超える多くの子供たちに参加いただき、YITCとしてもうれしい限りです。

The final Naka-ku children's tennis class of 2024 was held on December 1st.

52 children received lessons from YITC coaches for approximately two hours.

This year, a total of four sessions were held, with a total of over 240 children participating, which YITC is very pleased about.

11月9日、YITCで恒例の「外交官の日」が開催されました。

「外交官の日」は、YITCが大使、外交官とその家族、友人を招待して、テニスのトーナメントと交流パーティーを開催して国際交流するイベントです。

在日16大使館から32名、YITCメンバー38名、合計70名の選手が参加しました。大使館とYITCの選手を混ぜた12チームがトーナメントでテニスの腕を競いつつ、プレーを楽しみました。トーナメント表彰式の後、大使館からのポットラックとYITCから提供されたBBQ&Foodで、選手と観客合わせた総勢124名で交流パーティーが行われました。 天候にも恵まれて、参加者全員が気持ちの良い一日を過ごしました。YITCは、これからも、テニスを通して国際理解の促進に寄与するという理念のもと、活動していきます。

On November 9th, YITC held its annual Diplomats' Day.

Diplomats' Day is an international exchange event where YITC invites ambassadors, diplomats, their families and friends to a tennis tournament and social party.

A total of 70 players participated, including 32 players from 16 embassies in Japan and 38 YITC members. 12 teams, a mix of embassy and YITC players, competed in the tournament and enjoyed playing tennis. After the tournament awards ceremony, a social party was held for a total of 124 people, including players and spectators, with potlucks from the embassies and BBQ & Food provided by YITC. Blessed with good weather, all participants enjoyed a pleasant day. YITC will continue to work under the philosophy of contributing to the promotion of international understanding through tennis.

何とか天候にも恵まれて、今年第3回目となる中区子供テニス教室を、本日開催しました。

55名の子供が参加して、6クラスに分かれて、約2時間の間、YITCコーチのレッスンを受けました。

次回は、12月1日を予定しております。(11月11日からYITCホームページで申込開始予定）

Luckily the weather blessed us, and we held the third Naka Ward Children's Tennis School of the year today.

55 children participated, split into six classes, and received lessons from YITC coaches for about two hours.

The next school is scheduled for December 1st. (Applications will open on the YITC website from November 11th.)

A free tennis class for children, one of YITC's public services, was held today.

6月2日の日曜日に、恒例の横浜市医師会テニス部とYITCの対抗戦であるSeagull Dayを開催しました。

双方から合計60名の方々が参加し、団体戦を行いました。勝敗はともかく、穏やかな天候のもとで楽しいプレーが繰り広げられました。

また、恒例となる医療に関するレクチャーが講演されました。

講師は、ゆうあいクリニック名誉院長 小澤幸彦先生、タイトルは「前立腺癌 私の体験もふまえて」であり、皆真剣に聴講しました。

試合後に懇親交流パーティーを行いました。横浜市医師会テニス部の皆さま、楽しいひとときをありがとうございました！

Last Sunday, we held the annual "Seagull Day" match between the Yokohama Medical Association Tennis Club and YITC.

A total of 60 people from both club participated in the team match. Regardless of whether we won or lost, we enjoyed playing under mild weather.

In addition, the customary medical lecture was given.

The lecturer was Dr. Ozawa Yukihiko, Honorary Director of Yuai Clinic, and his lecture was titled "Prostate Cancer: Based on My Experience," and everyone listened attentively.

After the match, we held a social gathering. Thank you to the Yokohama Medical Association Tennis Club for a great time!

On May 18th, the 36th International Doubles Tournament was held under clear skies. It was a great success with 96 participants and 17 countries participating, and over 250 visitors! A heated game was played on the clay courts with a temperature of 27°C.

Prior to the event, condolences were sent to Yutaka Katsuma, a great tennis player who passed away suddenly last year, from Mr. Cancemi. Mr. Katsuma was a strong player who won the IDT 8 times. He was always cheerful, and loved tennis more deeply than anyone else. Everyone closed their eyes for a while thinking of his smiling face.

The matches were Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Consolation of each. Total 42 matches were played on 8 courts. The level of performances were very high, and there were loud cheers and applause everywhere.

Mr. Leon Pauli & Mr. Ken Matsuoka won the Men’s Doubles. The winner of Mixed Doubles was Ms. Yuka Goto & Mr. Thet Lwin. Other original awards were created, including Best Fighters Awards, Fair Play Awards, and Best Dresser Awards, which were awarded with trophies and great prizes.

In addition, BBQ was served by the members, and the players and visitors enjoyed the game and conversation over beer and wine. YITC will continue to engage in international exchange activities as a place for communication.

5月18日、晴れ渡る空の下、第36回International Doubles Tournamentが行われました。参加人数96名、参加国は17か国となり、来場者は250人を超える大盛況ぶり！気温27℃の暑いクレイコートでは、熱いゲームが繰り広げられました。

開催に先立ち、昨年に急逝された偉大なるテニスプレイヤー：勝間豊氏へ哀悼の言葉が送られました。勝間氏はIDTでも8度も優勝された選手で、いつも明るく、誰よりも深くテニスを愛されたひとりです。皆さんは、勝間さんの笑顔を思い浮かべしばし目を閉じていました。

さて、試合はMen’s Doubles、Mixed Doubles、Consolation Matchとあり、8つのコートで42試合が行われました。とてもレベルが高く、大きな歓声や拍手がところどころで湧き上がっていました。

Men’s Doublesで優勝したのはMr. Leon Pauli & Mr. Ken Matsuokaペア。Mixed Doublesで優勝したのはMs. Yuka Goto & Mr. Thet Lwinペア。それ以外にもBest Fighters Awards、Fair Play Awards、Best Dresser Awardsなど、オリジナルの賞が作られており、トロフィーと豪華賞品が授与されました。

The overhaul of the two clay courts is progressing smoothly. We are rebuilding the court surface by removing unnecessary objects like pebbles, and adding two dump trucks of good-quality sand and soil to the court. Upcoming IDT(YITC International Doubles Tournament) in May will be held in the perfect condition.

クレーコート２面のオーバーホールが順調に進んでいます。不要な小石などを取り除き、ダンプカー２台分の良質な砂と土をコートに入れてコート表面を再構築しています。5月のIDTは最高の状態となるでしょう。

We held the annual cherry blossom viewing party for the purpose of interacting with local people. More than 100 people participated and enjoyed food and drinks under the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Luckily we had good weather.

地域の方々との交流を目的とした恒例の観桜会を開催しました。100名以上が参加し、満開の桜のもとで料理とドリンクを楽しみました。おかげさまで天気にも恵まれました。
