Worship Whole-Heartedly.
Prioritize Relationship.
Embrace Character.
This site chronicles the tales of the 4 Yeos, as we journey together towards the pursuit of the above family values.
We hope to capture and put in words
the story being written in our lives
through all the little moments along the way.
Our Work
Our family serves in Chiang Mai, Thailand to bring hope and healing to Christian global workers through professional Christian counseling that they may thrive where they are called, whether in Jerusalem, Judea, or the ends of the earth.
The Yeo Family
We met on calledtogether.com, a place for internationally called Christian singles, in fall 2017, got engaged winter 2018, and married summer 2019. In 2020, we moved to Philadelphia where we found our first family church, Oxford Circle Mennonite Church. We began the journey of parenting our two girls, Hosanna and Eden, in this small missional community. During our time in Philadelphia, Jabez finished his counseling degree and applied for state licensure. Upon licensure, we visited Thailand where we felt God's call to the meaningful work of counseling missionaries serving all over Asia. We are excited to see all God has in store for our family as we trust in him and step forward in faith.
Jabez
Jabez Yeo was born in Singapore, raised in Canada and has lived in the northeast U.S. since college. He is ethnically Chinese and is passionate about counseling as a means of providing a safe space for people to process past wounds and undergo transformative healing by the power of the Holy Spirit, especially amongst people and communities of color. Jabez has worked with clients that have wrestled with depression, anxiety, PTSD, sexual identity concerns, cross-cultural adjustment and various addictions.
Jabez graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Biology from the College of Arts and Sciences and a B.S in Economics from the Wharton School. After college, Jabez worked for several years in the financial services industry in Philadelphia and New York City. During his time in New York, Jabez experienced a life-changing shift in his understanding of God and spirituality through the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course. This shift led him to seek counseling for his own lived experience of trauma and to eventually pursue a career change into counseling. Jabez completed his Masters degree in Counseling at Missio Seminary (formerly known as Biblical Seminary) in Philadelphia, PA.
Jabez is a training facilitator with the American Bible Society’s Trauma Healing Institute and has equipped people to facilitate trauma healing groups in New York City and Baltimore. He has a person-centered approach and his preferred methods of counseling include rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT) and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). Jabez has received training from the Albert Ellis Institute as well as the International Centre for Excellence in EFT.
In his free time, Jabez loves to read, play board games (i.e. 7 Wonders and Catan), try new places to eat and cheer on his favorite sports teams who are often underdogs (i.e. the Eagles, Cubs, Canucks and Timberwolves).
River
River was born in California and raised in New Jersey doing urban ministry with the homeless. She attended Iris Global's ministry school and completed her bachelor's in nursing at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked as a nurse serving those at the end of their life for a few years in hospice care. After this, she joined Esperanza Health Center in Philadelphia to serve underserved Spanish-speaking neighbors from 2020-2022. She then started her own practice, Yeo Wellness Collective, as a Gut and Psychology Syndrome Practitioner. Now she's at the pinnacle of her career as a full-time mom of the little Yeos. She loves dancing with flags, writing songs, hiking in the woods, and keeping a farm-to-table home with the help of a backyard garden and a few Mennonite/Amish friends.
