About Me
I am a postdoctoral researcher at UCF SST Lab. I received my Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from KAIST, South Korea, under the supervision of Prof. Hwasoo Yeo at AIxMobility Lab. My Ph.D. research focused on “Dynamic Multilevel Traffic Simulation for Urban Traffic Considering Human Driver Behavior”, which deals with the development of different scales of traffic simulation models from microscopic to mesoscopic and proposes the method of combining them into a single framework to develop a multilevel simulation.
My research mainly focuses on traffic modeling and the application of traffic simulation in various fields. My research emphasizes ‘human factors’ and ‘urban traffic’ as important considerations. I have developed a car-following model considering human characteristics, and now I am expanding my work to urban areas. Recently, I have been analyzing urban driving characteristics using pNEUMA data in collaboration with Prof. Nikolas Geroliminis at EPFL. In addition, I am working on other research topics such as scenario-based vehicle safety technology, highway risk estimation, and traffic speed prediction using a hybrid approach of traffic simulation and artificial intelligence.
Research Interest
Traffic Flow Theory and Traffic Simulation
· Modeling and utilizing traffic simulation in various scales from micro, meso, to macro and also developing a dynamic multi-level traffic simulation combining micro and meso scales.
Driver Behavior
· Analysis of driver behavior based on the microscopic vehicle trajectory data in both highway and urban areas.
Intelligent Transportation Systems with Artificial Intelligent
· Development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), including traffic prediction and control using AI techniques.
