If you want a sophisticated, screen-driven collaboration hub for your desk that handles calls with modern touch controls, choose Yealink DECT Headset WH66; if you need military-grade security and extreme mobility across a large office floor, choose Hewlett Poly Savi 7310. This isn't about which one is cheaper or which has more stars; it's about whether your workflow demands a smart interface or a fortress of privacy.
• Yealink DECT Headset WH66: The standout strength is its integrated 4-inch capacitive touch screen on the base station, offering a tactile way to manage calls without reaching for a phone; the trade-off is a heavier 80g headset and a focus on desktop-centric workflows rather than wide-area roaming.
• Hewlett Poly Savi 7310: The clear winner here is its robust 449.5 ft wireless range and 256-bit AES encryption, designed specifically for high-security environments where data protection is non-negotiable; however, it lacks a visual display on the base and relies entirely on physical buttons and audio cues.
• Who should buy the WH66: Professionals who value visual call management and a premium, business-focused aesthetic in their home office or quiet cubicle.
• Who should buy the Savi 7310: Security-conscious teams in finance, healthcare, or government who need to move freely over vast distances while keeping conversations completely private.
The Yealink WH66 Mono Teams is built for the person who treats their desk as a command center. What immediately sets this unit apart from standard headsets is the inclusion of a 4.0-inch color touch screen (480 x 800 resolution) directly on the base station. In my view, this transforms the experience of taking calls. Instead of fumbling with a phone or relying solely on the headset earpiece, you have a dedicated interface right there on your desk. You can control all calls, navigate menus, and manage settings with a simple swipe or tap. This level of integration suggests a user who spends long hours managing multiple lines and needs a quick, visual reference for who is calling or what the status of their connection is.
The audio engineering behind the WH66 also caters to the specific needs of a busy professional environment. With Yealink Acoustic Shield Technology and Active Noise Cancellation, the device is designed to isolate you from the distractions around you. The frequency range spans from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, ensuring that both deep bass tones and crisp highs are reproduced accurately. This makes it an excellent choice for someone listening to detailed presentations or music during breaks, though its primary design intent remains focused on business communications. The dynamic driver type further supports natural sound quality, making it suitable for long conference calls where voice clarity is paramount.

However, this headset is not for everyone. It is an on-ear design weighing 80 grams, which is substantial but manageable. If you are looking for a lightweight, "forget you're wearing it" solution for all-day wear while walking around, the on-ear placement might feel restrictive compared to over-the-head styles. Furthermore, the reliance on the base station's touch screen means you are somewhat tethered to that specific location for full functionality. While the DECT connectivity offers wireless operation, the true power of the WH66 is unlocked when you are near your desk. It is the perfect companion for a static workspace where you want to maximize efficiency through visual controls, but it may feel like overkill for someone who only occasionally takes calls or prefers a minimalist setup.
The Hewlett Poly Savi 7310 UC Monaural is engineered for a different kind of user—one who prioritizes security and freedom of movement above all else. This headset is certified for Microsoft Teams, ensuring seamless integration, but its real superpower lies in its security features. It boasts 128-bit authentication and 256-bit AES encryption, which are military-grade standards. For professionals in financial institutions, medical facilities, or government agencies, these specs are not just marketing fluff; they are essential requirements. The Poly Acoustic Fence technology actively reduces background noise, ensuring that sensitive conversations remain private even in chaotic environments. If your work involves discussing confidential data, the Savi 7310 provides a layer of protection that many other headsets simply cannot match.
Mobility is another critical factor where the Savi 7310 shines. With a wireless operating distance of up to 449.5 feet, this headset allows you to walk away from your desk, visit a colleague's office, or move between floors without losing connection. Most DECT headsets struggle beyond a single room or open-plan area, but this unit is designed to cover a large footprint. The mono audio delivery focuses on a single ear-cup, which is ideal for maintaining situational awareness while still hearing every word clearly. The frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz ensures that the audio spectrum is fully covered, providing natural sound quality that doesn't sacrifice clarity for range.
That said, the Savi 7310 comes with significant trade-offs regarding convenience and form factor. It is an over-the-head design, which adds weight and bulk compared to on-ear options. The item weight is listed at 1.5 pounds for the entire package, indicating a robust build that prioritizes durability and battery life over portability. There is no visual display on the base station; you must rely on the microphone and earpiece indicators for status updates. This lack of a screen might frustrate users accustomed to the visual feedback of the WH66. Additionally, the charging time is 1.5 hours, which is efficient, but the absence of a jack means you are entirely dependent on the wireless adapter and charging stand. This headset is for the active worker who needs to stay connected while moving through a secure facility, but it is less suited for someone who wants a sleek, desk-bound interface.
• Best for visual call management → Yealink DECT Headset WH66, thanks to its dedicated 4-inch capacitive touch screen on the base.
• Best for maximum wireless range → Hewlett Poly Savi 7310, offering an impressive 449.5 ft operating distance for large workspaces.
• Best for high-security environments → Hewlett Poly Savi 7310, featuring 256-bit AES encryption and military-grade security protocols.
• Best for battery efficiency → Hewlett Poly Savi 7310 charges faster at 1.5 hours compared to the 2.5 hours required by the WH66.
• Best for audio fidelity and noise isolation → Both offer similar frequency ranges (20 Hz - 20,000 Hz), but the WH66 includes Yealink Acoustic Shield for a more immersive experience.
• Best for on-ear comfort → Yealink DECT Headset WH66, which uses an on-ear design weighing 80g, lighter than the over-the-head alternative.
• Best for Microsoft Teams integration → Hewlett Poly Savi 7310 is explicitly certified for Teams, ensuring optimized performance within that ecosystem.
• Best for interactive desk control → Yealink DECT Headset WH66, allowing users to manage calls via touch without touching a phone.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally choose the Yealink DECT Headset WH66 for a typical school or home office setting. The presence of the 4-inch touch screen fundamentally changes how you interact with your calls, turning a passive listening device into an active control panel. In a school environment, where students or staff might need to quickly manage multiple communication channels without getting lost in menus, that visual interface is invaluable. While the Hewlett Poly Savi 7310 offers superior security and range, those features are often unnecessary for educational settings unless you are handling highly sensitive student data. For general use, the Yealink WH66 strikes the better balance between advanced features, ease of use, and practical design.
Both headsets support long usage with the WH66 offering 14 hours of average battery life, while the Poly Savi charges faster but lacks the same runtime specification in the provided data; the WH66's on-ear design may be more comfortable for extended periods than the heavier over-the-head style of the Poly.
Yes, the Poly Savi 7310 features Poly Acoustic Fence technology and 256-bit encryption, making it ideal for reducing background noise and securing private conversations in busy or sensitive environments.
The Yealink WH66 connects wirelessly via DECT and includes a 2.5 mm jack, allowing it to connect to various devices, though it is primarily designed for seamless integration with Yealink IP phones and UC platforms.
The Yealink WH66 is significantly lighter at 80 grams and features an on-ear design, whereas the Poly Savi 7310 is part of a heavier package (1.5 lbs total) with an over-the-head design that might feel more substantial during long wear.
