September 16–18, 2026 | Songdo Convensia, Incheon
The IABSE Congress Incheon 2026, themed “Structural Engineering Towards Evolution and Hyper-Expansion,” was held at Songdo Convensia, Incheon, Korea, from September 16 to 18, 2026.
Professor Youchan Hwang served as session chair for Session S22-2, the Session for the Wind Engineering Institute of Korea, on September 16.
Two papers co-authored with Professor Hwang were presented by researchers from Seoul National University. On September 16, Jaehong Shim (Session S22-1, Session for the Wind Engineering Institute of Korea) presented a resonance-based interpretation of vortex-induced vibration of bridge decks, supported by aerodynamic forces measured directly with real-time aeroelastic hybrid simulation. On September 17, Soomin Kim (Session G06-6, Analysis and design of energy, offshore, and special-purpose structures) presented a frequency-domain multimode spectral analysis framework for first- and second-order wave loads, applied to a 1,060 m curved floating bridge.
Paper 1: Reinterpreting Vortex-Induced Vibration as a Forced Excitation Phenomenon Using Real-Time Hybrid Simulation
