Research Experience
Research Assistant
September 2016 - 2024
Biophotonics and Imaging Laboratory (BAIL), University of Washington, Seattle, U.S.
Developed a biomedical image processing and quantification software for research and clinical optical coherence tomography (OCT) images, including retinal multilayer segmentation, en face projection, choroidal vessel/thickness quantification, and choriocapillaris (CC) quantification. Distributed to multiple reading centers.
Managed projects focused on biomarker extraction for ocular diseases, collaborating with research institutions to identify biomarkers for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy (DR).
Developed advanced machine learning algorithms for 3D SD/SS-OCT scans, including retinal multi-layer segmentation, geographic atrophy (GA) segmentation, calcified drusen segmentation and automated segmentation for hyperreflective foci (HRF).
Collaborated on projects to extend the capabilities of current OCT systems by improving contrast, resolution, and field of view through image registration and stitching.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
April 2014 - June 2016
State Key Lab of Modern Optical Instrumentation, Zhejiang University, China
Proposed a comprehensive mathematical model to describe the statistical properties of OCT angiography.
Designed and implemented a split spectrum probe to enhance the motion contrast for OCT scans
