THE ART OF THE MEME
THE ART OF THE MEME
It’s summer! Like many my age, I’ve found myself back from college, with much too much free time on my hands, more than I know what to do with. (Sorry to the employed who can not relate).
And so, I’ve taken up a new hobby to fill up my time. If you’re thinking it’s something cool and outdoors-y like maybe rock climbing or cliff jumping, I am sorry to disappoint. But I do feel very passionately about this.
It is meme-making.
Those who follow my finsta have already been graced with glimpses of some of my original works. The positive response has been overwhelming. Thank you. I am ready to share this with the world.
If you think this is silly, walk with me for a moment. Allow me to open your eyes. Memes are powerful. They distill complex ideas, emotions, and cultural references into easily digestible formats that can be quickly shared and understood. Whether it's a clever play on words, a relatable scenario, or a satirical take on current events, memes resonate because they tap into the collective consciousness in a way that is both immediate and impactful. Also, sometimes they are just funny. Life is too serious.
Honestly, I’m realizing halfway through writing this that there isn’t much to say. I just needed to write something to get me out of the throes of writer's block. Unfortunately, I think I’ve milked this topic for all it’s worth (which isn’t much). So I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. Basically, I love memes. I love making memes. If you really think about it, it is a very sophisticated practice. It is a combination of art, literature, comedy, and culture. It is communication. Yeah ok… I think that’s all I’m gonna get out of this topic. I am done now. I’ll leave you with some of my memes. A picture is worth a thousand words and blah blah blah.
Enjoy!
