If you want flat, accurate sound for professional monitoring or critical listening during long vlogging sessions where audio fidelity is non-negotiable, choose Yamaha HPH-MT5; if you need immersive, bass-heavy entertainment with active noise cancellation and wireless freedom for travel or gym use, choose Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2.
• Yamaha HPH-MT5: Delivers studio-grade, neutral sound with exceptional isolation and ultra-lightweight comfort for hours of wear, but requires a wired connection and lacks modern features like Bluetooth or noise cancellation.
• Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2: Offers powerful sensory bass, deep active noise cancellation, and massive 60-hour battery life in a wireless package, but sacrifices audio neutrality for a heavy, bass-forward signature that isn't ideal for mixing.
• Who picks the Yamaha: Audio professionals, producers, and serious vloggers who need to hear exactly what the source material sounds like without coloration.
• Who picks the Skullcandy: Commuters, gamers, fitness enthusiasts, and casual listeners who prioritize portability, silence, and a visceral, thumping low-end experience.
The Yamaha HPH-MT5 is built for one primary purpose: accuracy. When you are working on content creation, specifically vlogging where your audio quality defines the credibility of your video, these headphones offer a reference point that few others can match. The design focuses entirely on eliminating extraneous resonance within the acoustic components. From the arms to the ear cups, every element is engineered to ensure the sound you hear is faithful to the original recording. This is not about making music sound "funny" or "punchy"; it is about hearing the truth of the mix.
The physical construction supports this goal through an incredibly lightweight build weighing only 250 grams. This matters immensely when you are editing footage for hours on end. Heavy headphones cause neck fatigue and distract from the work. The HPH-MT5 uses smooth synthetic leather ear pads and low-resistance cushions that absorb excess vibrations, creating a stress-free seal. The three-dimensional arm pivot construction allows the angle of the ear pads to adjust perfectly to the shape of your head, which helps alleviate fatigue during extended sessions. Whether you are in a home studio or trying to isolate yourself in a noisy coffee shop to record voiceovers, the closed-back, circumaural design provides excellent isolation without needing electronic help.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you are looking for a pair of sweat-resistant wireless earbuds for vlogging while running outdoors, or ear clip headphones for vlogging that stay secure during movement, this over-ear wired set will be cumbersome. You must be tethered to your device via the included 3-meter detachable cable. While the length offers some mobility for studio monitoring, it is not designed for the kind of freedom required for dynamic, on-the-go content creation. Additionally, the lack of Active Noise Cancellation means you rely solely on the passive isolation of the ear pads. If you need to block out a jet engine or a loud subway, the HPH-MT5 might not be sufficient compared to electronically cancelling models. It is strictly for those who value precision over convenience.
In stark contrast, the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 is designed for immersion and entertainment. If your goal is to feel the music rather than just hear it, this is the machine for you. The defining feature here is the patented Multi-Sensory Crusher Bass Technology. Unlike standard headphones that simply play low frequencies, this system includes dual bass drivers alongside two full-range 40mm audio drivers. The result is a sound experience you can physically feel in your chest. For someone watching movies, gaming, or just enjoying high-energy music after a long day, this adds a layer of engagement that standard monitors cannot provide.
Connectivity is where this product shines for the modern user. It operates wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.2, allowing you to move freely without being restricted by cables. The battery life is a standout specification, offering up to 60 hours of listening time with the noise cancellation turned off. Even more impressive is the rapid charge capability; just 10 minutes of charging provides 4 hours of listening. This makes it an ideal companion for long flights, road trips, or multi-day trips where access to power outlets is scarce. The adjustable 4-mic Active Noise Cancelling system actively hushes the chaos around you, using dedicated external microphones to pick up ambient noise and emit specific signals to cancel it out. This creates a quiet bubble, perfect for studying or focusing in distracting environments.
The customization options further tailor the experience to the individual listener. Through the Skullcandy App, users can utilize Personal Sound by Mimi to create a custom EQ mode based on their specific hearing profile. Alternatively, you can switch between preset modes for music, movies, or podcasts directly on the headphones. The ability to connect to two devices simultaneously via multipoint pairing ensures seamless transitions between your phone and laptop. However, this focus on bass and features comes with trade-offs. The unit is heavier than the Yamaha, and the plastic enclosure, while durable, does not offer the same level of acoustic transparency needed for professional audio work. It is a consumer powerhouse, not a studio tool.

I would buy the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 for general daily use, but I recommend the Yamaha HPH-MT5 specifically if you are serious about vlogging and need to monitor your audio with absolute precision.
For most people, the convenience of wireless connectivity, the transformative feeling of the Crusher Bass, and the peace of mind provided by active noise cancellation make the Skullcandy the superior choice. It transforms listening into an event. However, for the specific use case of vlogging, where your voice and background audio must be clear and uncolored, the Yamaha remains the undisputed king. Its ability to deliver a flat, high-resolution sound ensures you don't miss subtle details in your recordings. If you are building a channel where audio quality is your brand, the Yamaha is the necessary tool, even if it requires a cable.
The Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 is better suited for the gym due to its wireless nature and robust build, though neither is explicitly marketed as "sweat resistant wireless earbuds for vlogging" or specialized athletic gear, so caution is advised during intense exercise.
Only the Yamaha HPH-MT5 is designed for professional mixing and critical monitoring; the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 colors the sound significantly with its sensory bass technology, making it unsuitable for accurate production work.
The Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 boasts a massive 60-hour battery life with fast charging capabilities, whereas the Yamaha HPH-MT5 is a wired device with no internal battery, meaning it has no charging requirements but also no wireless runtime.
The Yamaha HPH-MT5 is significantly lighter at 250 grams compared to the Skullcandy, making it less fatiguing for all-day wear in a stationary position, though the Skullcandy offers superior isolation for noisy environments.
