Description: At LeMay, America’s Car Museum, students will examine automobiles as engineering feats, historical artifacts and rolling sculptures. With over 10 exhibits and an extensive collection of classic and modern automobiles, students and adults alike will have much to marvel at in this museum. In addition to the museum tour, students age 4th grade and up will participate in a pinewood derby car workshop. Students will review science concepts related to potential and kinetic energy before assembling and decorating a pinewood derby car that can be tested on the Museum’s full-length track in the Family Zone. Pre-K-3rd grade students will participate in the customized car workshop where they will review how car body designs have evolved over time before using their imagination to build a customized car of their own.

Families should plan to pack a sack lunch - we will eat together in a reserved room before we rotate our two groups.

At 1:00pm we will travel to the Museum of Glass, the world famous contemporary art museum dedicated to glass and glassmaking. The MOG is also the West Coast’s largest and most active museum glass studio, founded by Dale Chihuly and features the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. Students will view works of art displayed in the museum and learn about the glassblowing process even getting to see artists at work. Note: Families may arrange to participate in a fused glass workshop for an additional $20/pp. (Must be 2nd grade or older)
