Description: Join us on a day trip to Ellensburg! Students will explore the Kittitas Historical Museum, participating in a scavenger hunt of the exhibits. We visited this museum last year and found that it contained a wide variety of artifacts and many hands-on opportunities for the students. This is a fun activity for all ages!

Following the visit, we will travel to the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility. Due to the size of our group, our visit time has been moved up to 12pm and we will be split into two groups.

One group will eat their lunch in the conference room during a short presentation while the other is on the walking tour/wind turbine viewing. Please plan to be to the facility no later than 11:50.

Clothing: Closed-toed sturdy shoes are required for the tour. Coats, gloves, and hats are advised for tours in the fall.

Safety: Hard hats and safety glasses are required, and will be provided for visitors. Young children will not be able to participate in the tour if the safety gear does not fit properly, or if they are unwilling to wear it for the duration of the tour. A safety review will be provided prior to the tour. Various hazards exist at an operating wind facility, such as inclement weather, primitive road and trail conditions. The tour covers a 1/2 mile on gravel trails. Tour participants with mobility issues can arrange vehicle access to the base of the turbine. Click here for a complete list of rules/tour checklist.

All participants must sign a liability form. Minors must have the liability form signed by a parent or guardian to participate in the tour. Click here for the form to fill out ahead of time and bring with you.

Note: Tours can be canceled or modified at any time due to inclement weather, high winds or any unsafe conditions.

Travel time: Please allow 60 minutes from Yakima (1 hour and 15 minutes if driving straight to Wind facility)
