The type of covering utilized in the Israeli hand-to-hand combat system of Krav Maga is based on the Counter Defense level of covering usage.[2] This form of covering, called 'bursting' in Krav Maga, absorbs/ blocks/ deflects/ and counter-attacks simultaneously.[4] Krav Maga covering starts in an athletic fighting stance with both arms raised, fists balled, and palms facing the body.[4] If the opponent is delivering a straight punch, the hand that mirrors the attackers punching hand redirects and blocks the strike, while the opposing cover hand sends an identical straight punch toward the attackers head.[4]

After leaving the army he later became a martial arts instructor teaching various styles, before co-founding and introducing the Keysi fighting method to the world. Dieguez and Norman have since parted ways and the art form is now just known as Keysi. Dieguez has continued to endorse Keysi whilst Norman has gone on to form Defense Lab.

The method considers the head to be the most important organ and thus has developed techniques to guard the head in combat situations by resting both hands on the head, allowing the practitioner to carry out close strikes while protecting the head.

Keysi has been likened to other martial art forms such as Krav Maga and Jeet Kune Do however the fighting method was introduced to address the perceived deficiencies observed in other fighting systems, to focus on the necessities of self-defence in the real world.

Keysi is practised throughout the world. It is perhaps most popular in Europe and particularly so in Spain from where the fighting method originated. There is a large following in the United States and the Philippines.

Hi, I am William. I started out in martial arts with Goshin Ju Jitsu when I was 7 years old. I am passionate about martial arts and love sharing everything I learn. I created Master Fighting to become a resource for learning about martial arts and alternative fighting styles. Learn more about me.

As a lifelong martial arts practitioner, Norman would begin traveling to different places to learn new styles. Little did Andy know that his journey would lead him to co-creating a new fighting method.

One of the stuntmen and choreographers, Buster Reeves told Christopher Nolan about the Keysi Fighting Method. He explained that the relatively new martial art was a fighting system that was created specifically for self-defense situations,

While Keysi seems like it was a genuine effort to create a self-defense system, it does have its flaws. Many martial arts experts believe that the only place that KFM works is within a Hollywood movie set. Citing two specific problems with the fighting method.

It all started when Justo was a child, 4-years old to be precise. As a consequence of his gypsy upbringing, fighting with the other kids was a daily occurrence, but what separated Justo from the other kids was his amazing genetic predatory instinct.

This frustrated him immensely, and this frustration fueled an intense desire in Justo to investigate and develop a method of fighting that would enable him to survive the brutal lifestyle he was born into.

He was extremely impressed with the ground fighting part of the KFM sport-fighting program that he is now looking to study with KFM and potentially develop some young fighters and put them in the cage.

I cannot find any reference to a country's military training exclusively in the Keysi method. That said, I have yet to find any reference to a military officially using any part of KFM outside of sites associated with the style who claim that it's "used by military and security forces", which makes me wonder if it's used officially at all.

It's this dichotomy that lies at the core of Keysi, which is far more than a strictly physical practice. While Keysi involves a long, methodical series of physical building blocks and stepping stones (students earn colored wristbands instead of belts as they progress through the ranks), as a discipline it also involves mental and spiritual growth.

Did a seminar with lead instructor a few years ago in South Florida. I personally liked it. Was comfortable to me, I like elbows, breaks, good old dirty close quarter fighting. Kinda wish there was a location close by to train with. 5 1/2 years of constant Krav Maga always looking to expand tool box.

Yea i Like KFM, i think it can be really effective and from what ive researched and learned about Krav Maga, Krav and KFM both use a lot of the same strikes and defenses although kfm has a whole different blocking method then krav they both use a lot of elbows and just anything that works to defend yourself

A lone man realizes that several people are moving at him with the intention of hurting him, maybe worse. He is cornered, and running away is not an option. He protects his face and torso with raised forearms while moving and striking. Once he's created an opening he gets out of there fast. What he's employed is the Keysi fighting method, which was featured in "The Dark Knight" movie series.

If you watch "The Dark Knight" movies closely, you will notice Batman rarely uses his feet as weapons. That makes it vastly different from traditional martial arts. Kicks are not a big part of the Keysi fighting method for a solid reason: close quarters combat is not conducive to wide sweeping leg motions.

The Keysi Fighting Method is considered one of the deadliest martial arts currently practiced. It is the fighting style featured in the latest Batman movies, Jack Reacher, and Mission Impossible 3. The Keysi Fighting Method made its debut in Batman Begins, and has since gained a fair amount of popularity.

First emerging on the streets of Spain in the late 1950's, the Keysi Fighting Method (KFM) gains street cred from the fact that it is a self-defense system which draws on your natural fighting instincts.

This style of fighting was formalized when founder Justo Dieguez teamed up with Andy Norman. Although Batman Begins could be seen as its official arrival, the two had in fact been working on the fighting style for about 20 years prior to auditioning for stunt double roles for the 2008 movie. After Batman Begins was released, the pair defined the Keysi Fighting Method as:"pure blood born street fighting method that was conceived on the street and born in the fight."

Bruce Lee drew on boxing, Wing Chun, and fencing in the early days of Jeet Kune Do. In the intervening years, the martial art has incorporated many other methods from judo, karate, kung-fu, kickboxing, taekwondo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to name but a few. The overriding goal is to create a personal style of self-defense. Training provides you with the tools you need to do so.

Keysi Fighting Method (KFM) is a method of self defense that is based on natural fighting instincts and several street fighting techniques, developed by Justo Diguez Serrano from his fighting experiences in the streets of Spain. The system was founded also with the help of Andy Norman.[1]

The Keysi Fighting Method became famous after it was used in the fighting choreography of the movies Batman Begins and its sequel, The Dark Knight. Both founders, Justo Diguez and Andy Norman, are certified Jeet Kune Do instructors under Dan Inosanto[2].

During his second fight with Seok Kang, despite Seok initially gaining the upper hand due to awakening, after Hajun awakened, he used his new ability and the Keysi fighting method to overpower and ultimately defeat him, thus getting revenge for his previous loss.
