On October 22nd, we’ll read a couple of stories from Berte Leltshuk’s collection Shotns af der Zun (Shadows on the sun). The protagonists of the stories are African-American children who suffer and struggle with New York’s despair. Leltshuk was an author, journalist, and theater and cinema actor; born in Pinks in 1901, she lived in Warsaw and Palestine, and moved to New York in 1922; in 1940, she moved to Hollywood, from which point on we don’t know her biography.
