If you want a complete, high-capacity winch system for off-road recovery on Jeeps, SUVs, trucks, and trailers, choose XYCLE 13; if you need a specific replacement push-pull cable to restore operation on John Deere compact tractors, choose Lafiorenze Winch Control Push-Pull.
These two products occupy entirely different corners of the market. One is a powerful, self-contained piece of heavy-duty recovery equipment designed to pull vehicles out of mud, sand, or snow. The other is a single mechanical component—a control cable—intended to fix a broken interface on existing agricultural machinery. You cannot swap them, nor would you ever want to. The choice comes down to whether you are looking to add recovery power to your vehicle or repair a stalled machine on the farm.
• Lafiorenze Winch Control Push-Pull: Restores precise manual control for specific John Deere tractor models by replacing worn cables, but offers no pulling power itself and fits only niche machinery.
• Best for: Off-roaders needing a full winch solution vs. farmers or mechanics fixing a stuck tractor winch lever.
The XYCLE 13 is built for the serious off-road enthusiast who needs reliable muscle when the trail gets tough. That capacity makes it suitable for recovering heavy-duty trucks, large SUVs, and even towing trailers that have gotten stuck in difficult terrain. The core strength here is the combination of raw power and modern safety features. Unlike older systems that rely on heavy steel cables, this winch uses a 3/8-inch by 80-foot synthetic rope made from UHMWPE. This material is significantly lighter than steel, which reduces the strain on the winch motor during spooling, yet it maintains incredible tensile strength. If you are working in tight spaces or need to reach further than a standard cable allows, the 80-foot length provides ample range for complex recovery scenarios.
Durability is another pillar of this design. The housing carries an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to one meter for short periods and is completely dust-tight. This level of protection is essential for muddy trails, river crossings, or dusty desert runs where moisture and debris are constant threats. Inside the motor, a three-stage planetary gear system with a 265:1 gear ratio ensures that the pulling action is controlled and steady. You aren't just yanking a vehicle free; you are doing so with precision. The system also includes both wireless and wired remote controls. The wireless option lets you stand up to 100 feet away, keeping you safe from potential snap-backs or debris, while the wired controller offers a direct connection when you prefer tactile feedback or need to be right next to the front bumper.

However, this capability comes with trade-offs. The physical footprint of the unit is substantial, measuring roughly 23.2 inches by 13.2 inches by 8.9 inches. Before buying, you must verify that your vehicle's bumper or mounting plate can accommodate a 10-inch by 4.49-inch base. It is also critical to note that the mounting plate is not included in the box, so you will need to source that separately based on your specific vehicle model. Furthermore, proper operation requires leaving at least 10 wraps of synthetic rope on the drum during loaded recovery to maintain tension and prevent damage. This product is ideal for anyone building a serious off-road rig who understands the installation requirements and wants a robust, all-in-one winch solution for bike racks, recovery operations, and hauling heavy loads.
In stark contrast, the Lafiorenze Winch Control Push-Pull is a targeted replacement part, not a standalone machine. Its entire purpose is to fix a specific mechanical failure in certain John Deere compact utility tractors. Over time, the internal mechanism of these push-pull cables wears out, leading to inconsistent control. This product replaces the old, damaged cable to restore the smooth, linear movement required to operate the winch on your tractor.
The construction focuses on functionality rather than raw power. It is built from a combination of metal and plastic components designed specifically for the routing and stress patterns of John Deere equipment. The dimensions are precise, with a total length around 61.22 inches and a very slim profile of roughly 0.59 inches by 1.8 inches. This slender design allows it to fit into the tight channels and linkages found in these agricultural machines without interference. It replaces original part numbers like AT48916 and AT36784, as well as aftermarket equivalents like FRA80-0064.
This product is strictly for those who already have a functioning winch on their tractor but have lost the ability to control it due to cable wear. It does not add power, capacity, or new features to the machine. If your winch motor has failed, or if you are looking to upgrade your tractor's winch system, this cable will not help. It is purely a repair component. The success of the installation depends entirely on matching the exact configuration of your existing setup. You must check your machine model, the original cable dimensions, end connections, and part numbers before ordering, as configurations can vary even within the same brand. This item is perfect for a farmer or landowner who knows their tractor model and simply needs to get back to work without replacing the entire winch assembly.

I recommend the XYCLE 13 if you are looking to equip your vehicle for off-road adventures, bike rack loading, or general recovery work. It is a comprehensive solution that brings genuine power and safety to the job site. However, if you are sitting in a John Deere 440 or similar model with a stuck winch lever, the Lafiorenze Winch Control Push-Pull is the only logical path forward. It is a specialized tool for a specialized problem. In my opinion, unless you are repairing a specific tractor winch linkage, the XYCLE 13 is the superior investment because it adds a critical capability to your vehicle that you cannot buy later.
No, it comes equipped with a 3/8" x 80 ft synthetic rope, which is lighter and safer than traditional steel cables for off-road recovery applications.
No, this is a replacement control cable only; it restores mechanical operation but does not increase the winch's lifting capacity or replace the motor.
