I recently got the xtool ra2 rotary attachment to use for both the rollers and the chuck but after setting it up and getting it all connected only the x axis moves and rollers will not move.
I have an ortur laser master 2 pro so i know i have to connect it to the y axis. I set it up using the rotary menu and select y axis and then put in the values that xtool recommends when connecting to a 3rd party laser. But it will not spin.
I have tried changing the value and it still will not spin the rollers even though it acts like it is. I am not sure if i am missing something in the settings or something else.
Maybe someone has had a similar problem and figured it out or maybe knows more about the setting that I may be missing.
I am just beyond frustrated that I can not get the rotary to work. If someone knows something please help.
I had the same/similar issue, I have a Comgro Z1 and when connected to the Y axis it would seem to stutter, but not move. I took a multimeter to the stepper motor/cable and found that the connector pairs the RA2 cable came with did not align with what my machine was sending. I had to swap two of the wires in the connector to match. In my case I needed the 1,3 and 2,4 wires as a pair, where the RA cable provided had 1,2 and 3,4 paired.

I found that i one of the two adapter cables that came with the machine had a lose wire that had to be pushed into place. For the Ortur you have to use the black cable adapter that has two wires crossing over that sends the signals to the rotary.
Both the white and black adapters look identical with that one change. I would try both cables that come with the machine and if they do not work make sure the wires are connected all the way.

I tried reassigning it the correct COM Channel. In the laser window, next to devices, you will see a dropdown with different COM option. My xtool worked with COM10 yesterday. Today it was at COM3. I changed it to COM10 and it was able to establish connection again. Let me know if you have questions.
I had the same error message with my home made laser running Marlin (marlin version 2.0.7.2). Reverting back to v1.2.04 worked for me to get communication with the laser working again. Neither 1.3.00 or 1.3.01 work at all, no matter what other remediation steps I tried.
If your main intention is to use the laser with LightBurn then you may want to rule out the Xtools D1 for the time being. There are a number of users here dealing with some fatal flaws to the current implementation including the inability to change GRBL configuration settings.
This is one thing that LightBurn brings to the table. Because it integrates competent design capability with laser control capability iterations are much faster than other workflows where you need to do all design and correction work in one tool, then bring into another tool with another set of tweaks to run the job. LightBurn lowers the cost of those iterations.
What I liked about the ortur the x7 and especially the xtool is the overall fit and finish looks very nice(especially the xtool) and while that may not mean to much for the use case it seems to me atleast that it shows thought and actual time spend developing the unit.
In addition to the Print Gocco model that was available in the USA, I lugged a fancier model back from Japan that has a better registration system. It would be fun to get more use out of that. I do still have exposed screens I made for it and, a handful of unexposed screens. I am not optimistic those are still good at this point, though.
I got mine just before the new year, and basically settled on 1000/70/270. I ran from 10-65 power at 5 power increments before I got there. I spent some time looking at the xtool guides before I just finally started lower and increased, every time, taking it out and looking at it through the light until there were no artifacts. Creating a perfectly centered design might seem impossible without the help of a specialized tool or software. To ensure your design is centered on the work space when using xtool Creative Space software, determine your offset by measuring the difference between the camera view and the actual engraving both vertically and horizontally. Once you find the offset (e.g., 0.7mm), adjust your design to XCS accordingly. This method should help improve the alignment and centering of your engravings.
For a long-term solution with multiple tags, create a placement jig from wood or cardboard with multiple scored rectangles. Reference a point inside the M1 and rest the jig against that point to ensure consistent placement.
Tape a piece of poster board down and draw the part's outline on it. Add a small square on another layer without output an inch away. Set your pieces on the outline and proceed. Once done, the head will move over to the square, making it easier to align parts. Use cardboard or thick cardstock to create a template. First, set the focus using the item, remove it, and put the cardboard on the bed. Use the outline feature to cut out the engraving's outline with the starting point as the center.
