XR has seen unprecedented interest from various different sectors over the past years in Japan. XR is being implemented experimentally in applications such as knowledge transfer, communication, workflow optimization, and more.
In this session, we invited researchers of major Japanese enterprises ranging from manufacturing to advertising to discuss and share their findings over the years. This will serve as a platform for the international communities of professional and academic backgrounds to the XR scenes in Japan.
We are interested in how the XR could be utilized in different fields and this session offers a glimpse into the future of XR.
Yuichi Hiroi is a Senior Research Scientist at Cluster Metaverse Lab, Cluster, Inc., and a Visiting Researcher at Jun Rekimoto Lab at the University of Tokyo. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the School of Computing, Tokyo Institute of Technology (currently Institute of Science Tokyo) and received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees from Keio University.
Yuichi’s research interests include mixed reality, near-eye display, vision measurement, and vision augmentation. His research contributions have been consistently published in international journals in the fields of VR/AR and optics, including IEEE TVCG and OPTICA, as well as leading international conferences such as IEEE VR and ISMAR. His work has also been recognized through awards at international venues such as IEEE VR, Augmented Humans, and SIGGRAPH.
