If you want best sleep headphones for music production that keep your ears open to the room while delivering bone conduction clarity, choose Xmenha Over; if you need best volume limiting in ear headphones for music production with deep bass and active noise cancellation to block out the world, choose SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE.
These two devices sit at opposite ends of the listening spectrum. One is designed to let the environment in, making it ideal for those who need situational awareness or cannot tolerate the pressure of sealed earbuds during long sessions. The other is a powerhouse of isolation, engineered to deliver studio-grade bass and silence external distractions so you can focus entirely on the mix. Choosing between them isn't about which one is "better" in a vacuum; it is about whether your workflow requires connection to your surroundings or total immersion in your audio.
• Xmenha Over: Its biggest strength is the open-ear design that preserves environmental awareness and comfort for extended wear, but its trade-off is a lack of physical isolation and lower bass response compared to sealed drivers.
• SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: Its biggest strength is the Active Noise Cancellation and powerful 11mm dynamic drivers that deliver deep, immersive sound, but its trade-off is an in-ear fit that blocks outside noise and may feel intrusive during sleep.
• Who is this for?: Pick the Xmenha Over if you are a producer working from home who needs to hear doorbells or conversations without taking off headphones; pick the Samsung buds if you are a producer needing to isolate tracks in a noisy environment or commute while mixing.
The Xmenha Over is built for a specific type of user: someone who prioritizes safety and comfort over absolute sonic isolation. This device utilizes bone conduction technology rather than traditional drivers placed inside the ear canal. The result is an audio experience where the air remains open, allowing you to hear the sounds around you—traffic, colleagues, or family members—while still enjoying your music or podcast. For a music producer working in a shared space or a home office where ambient noise is part of the workflow, this feature is invaluable. You never have to wonder if someone is trying to talk to you because the headphones simply do not seal your ears.

The physical design reinforces this philosophy. Weighing only 0.12 kg, these headphones are constructed from premium soft silicone and plastic materials, ensuring they stay stable during movement without digging into the skin. They are rated as waterproof and sweatproof, meaning you can wear them through intense workouts or in rainy conditions without worry. The battery life supports a solid 6 to 7 hours of continuous play, which covers most standard work shifts or long training sessions. The Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity ensures a stable wireless link up to 10 meters away, providing freedom of movement within a reasonable radius.
However, this product is not for everyone. Because it relies on bone conduction and does not use a closed-back enclosure, it cannot offer the deep, thumping bass that comes with sealed drivers. If your primary goal is to hear every subtle vibration in a low-end frequency range for critical listening, this might fall short. Furthermore, while the manufacturer claims effective sound leakage reduction, privacy in very quiet environments (like a library) might still be a concern compared to fully sealed alternatives. It is best suited for background listening, monitoring, or casual production work where hearing the room is just as important as hearing the track.
The SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE is engineered for the producer or listener who demands control over their auditory environment. These true wireless earbuds feature an in-ear design with silicone tips that create a physical seal, combined with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). This combination effectively shuts out the chaos of the outside world, allowing you to focus entirely on the details of your music. Whether you are commuting on a busy train or sitting in a coffee shop with loud chatter, the ANC ensures that what you hear is exactly what you intended to hear, free from interference.
The audio engine here is robust. Equipped with a larger 11mm dynamic speaker, these buds deliver deep bass and powerful sound that rivals much more expensive models. For a music producer, the ability to hear the low-end frequencies clearly is non-negotiable, and the dynamic driver provides the punch needed to evaluate mixes accurately. The battery life is equally impressive, offering up to 8.5 hours of uninterrupted playback with ANC turned off, and a total of 30 hours when using the charging case. This longevity means you can work through a full day of production without constantly hunting for a power outlet.
Beyond the audio, these buds integrate deeply with the smart ecosystem. You can access Google Gemini hands-free, allowing you to manage tasks or get assistance without touching your phone. The seamless switching between Galaxy devices—moving from a phone to a tablet to a PC—is a game-changer for creators who juggle multiple screens. However, the in-ear nature of the design means you lose all situational awareness. Once these are in your ears, the world goes silent. While this is perfect for concentration, it makes them unsuitable for sleeping or any activity where hearing your surroundings is a safety requirement. They are also heavier at 3.52 ounces (total unit weight), which might be noticeable during extended sleep sessions compared to the ultra-lightweight Xmenha Over.
• Best for sleep and ambient awareness → Xmenha Over: The open-ear design prevents ear fatigue and allows you to monitor your immediate environment, making it the superior choice for the best sleep headphones for music production.
• Best for deep bass and isolation → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: The 11mm dynamic driver and Active Noise Cancellation provide the best volume limiting in ear headphones for music production by physically blocking external noise and enhancing low-frequency response.
• Best for outdoor safety → Xmenha Over: With no ear canal occlusion, you remain aware of traffic and hazards, whereas the Samsung buds require you to switch to Ambient mode to hear anything outside.
• Best for long battery life → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: At 8.5 hours per charge plus 30 hours total with the case, they outlast the Xmenha Over's 6-hour single-session capability.
• Best for call clarity → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: The enhanced microphone and background noise reduction ensure your voice comes through clearly even in windy or noisy conditions.
• Best for lightweight comfort → Xmenha Over: At 0.12 kg, the Xmenha Over is significantly lighter and less intrusive than the Samsung buds, which are better suited for seated or stationary work.
• Best for multi-device workflows → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: Automatic switching between phones, tablets, and PCs streamlines the production process for users embedded in the Galaxy ecosystem.
• Best for water resistance → Xmenha Over: Both are durable, but the Xmenha Over is explicitly marketed with professional-grade waterproofing for sweat and rain, ideal for active lifestyles.
In my opinion, if I were setting up a dedicated station for music production, I would choose the SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE. The ability to isolate myself from the room and hear the full frequency range of my tracks is essential for accurate mixing. The 11mm dynamic drivers provide the depth and clarity I need to make critical decisions about bass and mid-range balance. However, I would keep the Xmenha Over nearby for times when I need to take a break, listen to podcasts while doing chores, or sleep without feeling trapped behind walls of sound. For pure creative focus and audio fidelity, the Samsung buds are the clear winner, but the Xmenha Over offers a unique comfort that the industry standard simply cannot match.
Yes, the open-ear design and lightweight construction make them excellent candidates for sleeping, especially for those seeking the best sleep headphones for music production who need to avoid ear pressure.
They feature Active Noise Cancellation that significantly reduces external noise, making them ideal for focused work, though they do not eliminate all sound like a dedicated acoustic chamber would.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3-FE offer longer usage with 8.5 hours of playback on a single charge and a total of 30 hours with the case, compared to the Xmenha Over's 6-hour limit.
Absolutely, they are designed to be sweatproof and secure enough for activities like cycling or running, keeping your ears open to traffic while you listen to your playlist.
