If you want a discreet, ultra-lightweight in-ear solution that vanishes completely for long work sessions on your MacBook, choose Xmenha Low Profile Mini; if you need an open-ear design that keeps you aware of your surroundings while adding a touch of style to your workout or commute, choose ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear.
• Xmenha Low Profile Mini: Its greatest strength is the microscopic, invisible form factor with Bluetooth 5.3 stability, but it uses a traditional in-ear canal fit that some may find less comfortable than open designs. This pick is for office workers and those who prioritize total discretion.
• ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear: It excels with its clamp-on, non-invasive design and V6.0 connectivity that offers a wider range, though the battery life is capped at 4 hours without a massive case extension. This pick is for active users, women who love fashion accessories, and anyone needing situational awareness.
The Xmenha Low Profile Mini is engineered for one specific purpose: invisibility. When I look at the specifications, the first thing that jumps out is the weight. At just 0.08 oz per earbud, these are effectively featherlight. The data sheet describes them as being roughly the size of a peanut, which translates to a physical footprint so small that they are designed to be completely undetectable from the front when seated in the ear canal. This isn't just about comfort; it is about presence. If you are sitting in a meeting, working in a quiet office, or trying to avoid the attention that larger headphones draw, this is the tool for the job.
The design philosophy here is clearly focused on the "invisible" aspect. They use a Balanced Armature Driver within a tiny enclosure made of plastic, covering frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. While the driver technology is compact, the intent is clear: deliver sound without the bulk. The Bluetooth 5.3 chip ensures that despite their small size, the signal transmission remains stable over a 10-meter range. You get button controls for calls, volume, and voice assistants like Siri, all packed into a device that feels almost non-existent on your head.
Who should buy this? If you are looking for the best bluetooth headphone for macbook users who spend hours in front of a screen, this is a strong contender because of the comfort factor. The in-ear placement provides sound isolation, which helps block out background chatter. However, who should skip it? If you have sensitive ear canals or prefer not to have anything inside your ear, the in-ear shape might not be suitable. Also, if you need a gaming headset with a boom mic, this is not it; these are strictly for listening and standard calls via the built-in microphone.
The battery performance is solid for its size class. You get 4 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, which takes only one hour to replenish. The charging case extends this total usage time to 20 hours. The case itself is tiny—roughly the size of two quarters—and features an LED display so you can see exactly how much power remains. This eliminates the anxiety of running out of juice unexpectedly. It is a pragmatic choice for someone who needs audio for a workday without the visual clutter of a standard pair of headphones.

The ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear takes a completely different approach to audio. Instead of sealing the ear canal, this product rests gently on the outer ear. The "clamp on" design is a significant departure from the Xmenha model. This means no pressure inside the ear canal, which can be a game-changer for people who suffer from ear fatigue after wearing traditional in-ear buds for hours. The design prioritizes safety and awareness, allowing you to hear traffic, conversations, or gym announcements while still enjoying your music.
A unique feature of this product is the fashion element. This transforms the earphones from purely functional tech into a piece of jewelry. You can attach or remove this bowknot depending on whether you are heading to the gym, going out for a run, or meeting friends. This level of customization is something the Xmenha model does not offer. The ASHATA unit is designed for the lifestyle user who wants their tech to match their aesthetic.
In terms of connectivity, the ASHATA utilizes a V6.0 version of the wireless protocol. The specification lists a range of 10 to 15 meters, which is slightly broader than the 10 meters listed for the Xmenha. This extended range could be beneficial if you are moving around a large apartment or a campus while keeping your phone in a bag. The dual reverse sound transfer technology claims to minimize sound leakage by 99%, ensuring that what you hear stays between you and your ears. This is crucial for public spaces where you don't want to disturb others.
The battery specs mirror the Xmenha in terms of single-charge duration (4 hours) and charging time (1 hour), but the capacity numbers differ slightly. The earbuds hold 25mAh and the case holds 180mAh. The health algorithm mentioned in the description automatically adjusts volume levels to protect hearing during extended use. This is a thoughtful addition for anyone who tends to crank up the volume to block out noise, as it adds a layer of protection against potential damage. If you are looking for head phones for macbook that allow you to stay connected to the room around you, this open-ear design is superior.
However, there are trade-offs. Because they do not seal the ear, they cannot provide the same level of passive noise isolation as the Xmenha. In a very loud environment, you might struggle to hear the details in your music without turning the volume up high, even with the leakage reduction. Additionally, the focus on the "open" design means they are best suited for activities where you need to remain aware of your surroundings, such as outdoor sports, walking, or light workouts. They are less ideal for deep-focus work in a noisy coffee shop where silence is preferred.
• Best for discretion and office work → Xmenha Low Profile Mini. The in-ear, peanut-sized design makes them virtually invisible, perfect for professional settings where you want to blend in.
• Best for situational awareness and safety → ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear. The open-ear design keeps your ears unblocked, making them safer for outdoor activities and commuting.
• Best for long-term comfort in sensitive ears → ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear. By avoiding the ear canal entirely, they eliminate the pressure and irritation common with in-ear models.
• Best for maximum sound isolation → Xmenha Low Profile Mini. The in-ear placement naturally blocks external noise better than the open clamp design.
• Best for style and personalization → ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear. The detachable rhinestone bowknot allows you to change the look of your audio gear to match your outfit.
• Best for battery monitoring → Xmenha Low Profile Mini. The case includes an LED power display, giving you a precise readout of remaining charge, whereas the ASHATA case relies on general indicators.
• Best for extended wireless range → ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear. With a specified range of up to 15 meters compared to 10 meters, it offers slightly more freedom of movement.
• Best for lightweight feel → Xmenha Low Profile Mini. Weighing only 0.08 oz per bud, they are lighter than the ASHATA units, making them feel even more "there."
After analyzing the design philosophies and technical specifications of both devices, I would personally choose the Xmenha Low Profile Mini if my primary goal was to use them as a foldable gaming headset for macbook alternative for daily tasks, or simply as a companion for long work days. The sheer ingenuity of fitting a Bluetooth 5.3 chip and a balanced armature driver into a peanut-sized package that weighs almost nothing is impressive. The ability to wear them for hours without feeling any pressure is a distinct advantage for productivity. The visible LED battery indicator is also a practical feature that reduces guesswork.
However, if your lifestyle involves more movement, outdoor activity, or a desire for a fashionable accessory, the ASHATA Earbuds Open Ear becomes the winner. The clamp-on design and the ability to customize with the bowknot make it a versatile choice for a different demographic. But for the specific use case of sitting at a desk, focusing on work, and wanting audio that doesn't distract or draw attention, the Xmenha Low Profile Mini offers a level of stealth and comfort that the open-ear design simply cannot match. It is the smarter choice for the serious worker who values efficiency and invisibility.
Yes, both products use standard Bluetooth technology (5.3 for Xmenha and V6.0 for ASHATA) and will connect seamlessly to a MacBook, iPhone, Android phones, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
The ASHATA data sheet mentions "detachable bowknot" and "health ears algorithm" but does not explicitly list a built-in microphone or call functionality in the provided specifications, unlike the Xmenha which clearly states microphone support for calls and Siri.
Both offer 4 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The Xmenha case extends this to 20 hours total, while the ASHATA case provides additional power based on its 180mAh capacity, though the exact total hours for ASHATA are not fully detailed beyond the 4-hour earbud runtime.
According to the manufacturer data, the earbuds are approximately the size of a peanut and weigh 0.08 oz, designed to be completely invisible from the front when worn in the ear canal, making them ideal for discreet office environments.
