If you want a durable, feature-rich pair of headphones with active noise cancellation and a long battery life for focused study sessions, choose Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones; if you need a soft, washable headband designed specifically for sleeping or low-movement activities like yoga, choose Perytong 2.
• Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones: Offers impressive 20-hour battery life with active noise cancellation, but is heavier and bulkier than sleep bands. Best for students who need to block out distractions while studying.
• Perytong 2: Delivers ultra-thin comfort with machine-washable fabric and Bluetooth 5.4, but lacks active noise cancellation and has a shorter 12-hour playtime. Best for insomniacs or travelers seeking comfort over raw power.
• The Xmenha is built for the student desk; the Perytong is built for the pillow.
The Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones are engineered as a dedicated tool for children and teens who need to focus on learning tasks without succumbing to environmental noise. At their core, these are on-ear devices that utilize Active Noise Cancellation technology to create a quiet bubble around the user. This isn't just about blocking out background chatter; it is about creating an environment where a child can improve attention and language skills effectively. The design features a cute cat theme with light-up capabilities, which serves as a motivational element for kids, making the act of putting on headphones feel like a fun ritual rather than a chore.
For a student looking for the best over ear headphones for study, the Xmenha stands out due to its substantial power reserves. With a 400mAh battery capacity, it delivers approximately 20 hours of playback time when the lights are on, and even extends to 8 hours if the lighting is turned off to save energy. This longevity means a student can listen to audiobooks, educational podcasts, or music through multiple school days without needing to hunt for a charging port. The inclusion of a USB-C charging port ensures fast recharging in just 2.5 hours, keeping downtime to a minimum during busy academic schedules.

However, this product is not a universal fit. It is explicitly designed for kids exceeding three years old and features a plastic enclosure with a rounded tip design that prioritizes durability and safety for younger users. The weight of the unit is 18.14 grams, which is manageable for most children but might feel restrictive compared to lighter alternatives. If you are an adult looking for minimalistic gear, or if you need something you can throw in a washing machine after a sweaty workout, this rigid plastic design is likely too bulky and impractical. It is also worth noting that while it supports all Bluetooth-enabled devices, it does not include a traditional headphone jack, meaning you are entirely dependent on the wireless connection for audio input.
The Perytong 2 Pack Sleep Headphones represent a completely different category of audio accessory. Instead of hard cups that clamp onto the ears, these are essentially high-tech headbands made from a blend of 80% nylon and 20% spandex. This fabric construction makes them incredibly stretchable, allowing them to fit almost any head size comfortably without pressure points. The primary value proposition here is the ability to wear the device while lying down. Because the speakers are embedded directly into the fabric, they do not press against the side of your head, eliminating the pain and discomfort often associated with standard earbuds when trying to fall asleep.
This product is ideal for anyone struggling with insomnia or needing to meditate in a quiet space. The "sound isolation" feature works by physically covering the ears with soft material rather than using electronic cancellation, which can be gentler for sensitive sleepers. The design is also sweat-absorbent, making it a viable option for low-intensity sports like yoga or stretching, provided the user stays relatively still. The fact that the entire unit (minus the control pod) is machine washable is a massive practical advantage for hygiene, especially since it is sold as a 2-pack, allowing users to rotate between clean units.
However, the trade-off for this comfort is a reduction in raw audio performance and battery endurance compared to rigid headphones. The Perytong offers up to 12 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge, which is solid but falls short of the Xmenha's 20-hour potential. Furthermore, the audio drivers are described as "ultra-thin HD stereo," which implies a focus on clarity for speech and ambient sounds rather than deep bass or heavy soundscapes. There is no headphone jack included, relying solely on Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
• Best for Battery Life → Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones: With 20 hours of playtime, it lasts significantly longer than the Perytong's 12 hours, perfect for all-day study marathons.
• Best for Comfort During Sleep → Perytong 2: The soft fabric headband allows you to lie face-down or on your side without pressing speakers into your ear, a feat impossible with the Xmenha's rigid structure.
• Best for Noise Control → Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones: It features Active Noise Cancellation, whereas the Perytong relies only on passive sound isolation from the fabric.
• Best for Hygiene and Maintenance → Perytong 2: The ability to machine wash the entire headband makes it superior for shared use or messy environments, unlike the plastic Xmenha.
• Best for Durability and Impact Resistance → Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones: The plastic enclosure and sturdy build are designed to withstand the rough handling typical of children, while the Perytong is more delicate.
• Best Connectivity Standard → Perytong 2: It utilizes Bluetooth 5.4, offering slightly newer wireless technology compared to the Bluetooth 5.3 found in the Xmenha model.
• Best Value for Study Focus → Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones: The combination of ANC and long battery life creates a superior environment for concentration compared to the open-air nature of the Perytong.
• Best Gift for Travel → Perytong 2: The compact, foldable nature of the headband makes it easier to pack in a carry-on than the bulkier Xmenha cat ears.
In my opinion, for anyone strictly looking for the best over ear headphones for study, the Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones are the clear winner. The active noise cancellation combined with the 20-hour battery life creates an immersive environment that the Perytong simply cannot match. While the Perytong is a clever invention for sleepers, it lacks the acoustic isolation required to block out a noisy household or classroom. I would buy the Xmenha because its design directly addresses the core problem of distraction, turning a chaotic room into a focused sanctuary. If your goal is productivity and deep work, the Xmenha is the only logical choice.
Yes, the Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones feature Active Noise Cancellation specifically designed to reduce background noise, making them excellent for study sessions. The Perytong 2 uses passive sound isolation which is better for sleep but less effective for loud environments.
Yes, the Perytong 2 is machine washable for easy maintenance, provided you remove the control pod before washing. The Xmenha headphones have a plastic enclosure and cannot be washed.
The Xmenha Cat Ear Headphones offer up to 20 hours of playtime with lights on, while the Perytong 2 provides up to 12 hours of continuous listening. Both require roughly 2 to 2.5 hours to fully charge.
