My name is Xiwei (Denny) Tang; I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to that, I was an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics, at the University of Virginia. My research mainly focuses on Statistics and Machine Learning, aiming at developing innovative methodologies for complex and modern real-world data analysis. Specifically, my works revolve around statistical machine learning, especially in Individualized modeling and Subgroup analysis, Tensor Learning, Point Process, Imaging analysis, Recommender system, Distributed Data Learning, and Transfer Learning.
Prior to Joining UVa, I received PhD from University of Illinois, Urbana -Champaign, supervised by Prof. Annie Qu with a thesis on Individualized learning and integration for multi-modality data.
Ph.D in Statistics, University of Illinois, Urbana -Champaign, 2012-2017
M.S in Statistics, University of Virginia, 2010-2012
B.S in Mathematics, Fudan University, 2006-2010
