I have my Xgody GPS mounted above the windscreen in my mercedes sprinter motorhome.
the lack of brightness does not cause any problems there.
I regularly check both GPSpower and navitotal websites for map updates for Aus/NZ.
I have successfully updated the maps at least 4 times.
Latest maps for Australia and New Zealand are 2019Q2.
The important thing with map updates is to put the correct files in the correct sub folders on your GPS drive.

Plus I have two European Peugeot 308 diesel vehicles which both have Blaupunkt Combination entertainment system/GPS units and the same IGO maps for Xgody work in the Blaupunkt units.
