What do I do when I find a bug in a Mindhive game?
This guide will only apply to Mindhive: Wilds, Mindhive: Curse from the Malice and Mindhive: Horizons.
Sometimes, you may encounter an error related to missing files, such as a message about a missing ".png" file. Here's how to address this:
Step 1: Identify the Missing File
Check the error message for the name of the missing file. It will usually provide the name and type of the asset (e.g., "character.png").
Step 2: Create a Temporary Fix
If the file type is clear to you (e.g., character image), you can create a transparent image with the same file name.
Drop the transparent image into the folder where the missing file should be located. This should allow the game to continue running without breaking, although the specific image won't be displayed.
Note: This is a temporary fix meant to let you proceed with the game. It won't restore the intended visuals but will prevent crashes
If the error persists or the bug is more complex, such as gameplay glitches, broken events, or crashes:
Step 1: Gather Information
Take note of the error message (if any) or describe what happened before the bug occurred.
If possible, take screenshots or record the behavior.
Step 2: Report the Bug
Visit the game's page on GameJolt where the Mindhive game is hosted.
Submit a bug report, including:
The description of the issue.
Any error messages.
Screenshots or videos (if available).
Steps to reproduce the bug.
