Synopsis: A newly born flame is shunned by his people for his color, but finds belonging through his journeyÂ
I and 3 other people collaborated to create this short film for an event in Republic Polytechnic called First Shots X-Change. This event is a sort of film festival, which aims to showcase short films by young talents.
The team was comprised of 2 students from Republic Polytechnic, as well as 2 students from Rangsit University (RSU), Thailand. This international collaboration was done online over the course of 10 days. The brief for this project was about synergy and interculturalism.
I learned a lot from this project, about how working on animation as a team required a lot more effort than working alone. I also got to experience the burden of a language barrier, but I was happy to learn that my counterparts from Thailand were extremely talented, so I had a great time working with them. I directed this film.
Synopsis: A hunter is annoyed after being woken up by a mushroom creature who keeps following him. But he soon realizes why it was so persistent.
This is my 2nd short film which I've actually completed and it took me around 1 month from start to finish. It was quite difficulty as this was my first time animating something of this length by myself, but I think it turned out somewhat okay. This project also wouldn't have been possible without the help of good friend and talented artist Zack Teo Zhi Kang who helped with music, sound design, and voice acting.
As part of a programme called Brightening Lives 2023, for the Marina Bay Sands Countdown 2024 (confusing I know), I created an artwork themed around a story. A real life event where a girl who was suffering from depression was able to find community and support through online forums.
Because I had experience with projection mapping and such with my FYP in RP, I felt that this was something I could tackle. However, it was still difficult to work on a facade, the specific shape of the building had a weird silhouette, on top of obstructions on the front, but I still made it work somehow!
The artwork was then projected onto the ArtScience Museum (ASM) building in the Marina Bay area. I was very happy to see my work come to life on the side of an iconic building in Singapore. This project really made me feel like my art was being recognized, and gave me a good boost of motivation!
When I first decided to design my own name card in 2024, I felt that it would be a fun project to do annually. I wanted to come up with a new design and theme for each year, and here's the design I came up with for 2025
These are some motion graphics for an Esports setting
This was a short animation I created in Blender for fun, but also as a way of learning more about 3D modelling and animation because I had an interest in it. I wanted to create large scale projects and animations, but everytime I tried I got a little burnt out. So I decided to start small, and this animation can be seen as a stepping stone.
All the models were created by myself, as well as the animation. I hope that I get to do bigger and better things, but for now I'll be learning and working on small projects!
After making the first Lippy animation, I realized I was really unsatisfied with how the animation was, and the rendering wasn't really great. So I decided to go back to basics and actually try to learn how to render properly before doing a whole animation.
That's why I decided on creating this render, I thought it would be an especially good subject matter because of the refractions in the glass. I was really glad that I was able to achieve that look in the final render.
If I were to continue this path of 3D, I would love to be able to work on a grease pencil animation in Blender because I like the style of it a lot.
These are some title intros I've made using motion graphics
This projection was part of my Final Year Project in Republic Polytechnic. It was to demonstrate an immersive dining concept for a historical and cultural restaurant called "Permata". It took me a lot of work (3D animation, motion graphics, and a lot of research and effort) to be able to put this out. This was also my first foray into the realm of 3D through the use of Blender. As well as my first time ever doing projection mapping.
As you can see, this was where the natural progression of my interest in 3D art took me. One of my Final Year Project (FYP) team members; Lily Mariani, had created designs for our client, Permata's new line of product packaging. Because we wanted a good way to show off the final look of these designs, I decided to recreate them in Blender, and through some modelling, and using Lily's designs as textures, I rendered out a product shot for our client.
This is a teaser for a larger personal project that I've been thinking of for a really long time. I really wanted to bring to life this story that I've had in my head for a few years and I hope to be able to create my 2nd animated short film from this!
I think that even though this clip is really short, I learned a bit about sound design (only barely), as well as more about my style when it comes to animation. I love the art from Valorant, which is one of my biggest inspirations, and I really like to emphasize the idea of "impact". This contributes to my preference of a bold, modern, and simplistic art style.
Although a bit outdated, this motion graphic video was made to showcase my skills, interests, experiences, etc. I have since improved in skill, but this video is still the most effort I've put into one motion graphics project, and really shows that I love motion graphics!
