Sonoma Raceway announced today a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to providing the best racing experience for fans and drivers alike. The world-renowned road course will undergo a comprehensive repaving project in preparation for the June 7-9, 2024 NASCAR race weekend.

Turn 1 Campground, Trackside Turns 3 & 4 Campgrounds and the expansion of the popular Turn 7 Campground will all be available for fans to make their home away from home for the entire action-packed race weekend. Each new premium campground has its own unique experiences & views to offer:

The series consists of the Namib Race (Namibia), Gobi March (Mongolia), Atacama Crossing (Chile) and The Last Desert (Antarctica). Competitors in the races traverse 250 kilometers in seven days over rough country terrain with only a place in a tent and water provided. After an extremely hot week where the weather was unseasonably warm, Scotty Hawker of New Zealand and Tanja Volm of Germany triumphed over the other racers to win the 17th Atacama Crossing. He has raced continuously since college, held SCCA and IMSA pro racing licenses, and has competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona. He currently ministers to a 1999 Miata, and he appreciates that none of his younger colleagues have yet uttered "Okay, Boomer" when he tells one of his stories about the crazy old days at C/D.
