Reflections by Eric Robinson
Eric Robinson is a contemporary painter whose figurative works explore the relationships between the human condition, sexuality, spirituality, and emotional clarity, through the use of oil paint and pen. Inspired by and drawing from the people close to him, Eric works to capture their personalities while being conscious of their abilities to portray multiple narratives, depending on how Eric sees fit. Being a capable photographer, Eric marries his interests in photography and editing with his creative visions for works of art. The photography acts as his planning for how each painting will turn out, and he edits them to a degree that the images themselves can stand alone. Eric’s use of rich earth-tones and bold brushwork is met with complementary soothing backgrounds allow his subjects’ personalities to radiate through and be the focal point of each piece. His inspiration derives, in part, from the works of Andrew Salgado. Most notably for his use of figuration, color, and storytelling.
