Urticaria ‘Hives’ and Angioedema
Urticaria lesions are red, itchy, can range in size and appear anywhere on your body. Some are acute and go away in short time, but some may last for several months or years. If the cause can’t be identified, testing may be needed. The allergist will pick which tests are needed based on patient history and triggers. Omalizumab is an FDA approved treatment for some types of urticaria. Corticosteroids and antihistamines are other medications commonly used.
