Fire Ant
Fire ants are stinging insects common in Texas. Fire ant allergy may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction called anaphylaxis requiring emergency medical attention. Fire ants build nests in the ground, the mounds can usually be easily detected. Fire ants bite first which helps them pull the stinger out, rotate and sting over and over again.
