Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis is an allergic reaction that may cause death. It is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment. It occurs after being exposed to the substance one is allergic to. Symptoms of anaphylaxis may include but not limited to: wheezing, shortness of breath, cough, chest tightness, pale/blue skin color, lightheadedness, hives, generalized itching, nausea, cramping, diarrhea, feeling of "impending doom'" cramping of uterus. When you feel any one of these symptoms you should seek emergency medical attention. Call 911 and use the epinephrine pen prescribed by your allergist.
