COVID-19 and the campout

COVID-19 has thrown the Vermont Marriage Encounter community a curve-ball. We worried that, like so many other events, the camp-out may need to be canceled. But after careful consideration, and looking for various positive signs we are comfortable going forward. We understand some will not be able to or feel comfortable attending. We will explore ways that those people can participate remotely.

Below are some of the precautions that will be taken, and the list of positive milestones we have observed. We will send out updates if/when conditions change. Please consider joining us.

Distancing and health: Please respect others in regard to “social distancing”. If you feel ill, have symptoms or have health concerns, please make appropriate choices regarding your participation.

At the Shrine: Cabin occupancy has been reduced. Masks will be required in the Shrine visitor center and restrooms. Masks can be worn at any time, but not required unless noted. The Shrine may require you to sign a health disclosure form and may ask about your recent travel.

Food: We are not sure how we will handle food this year. We would like to offer the usual pancake breakfast and chicken BBQ, but perhaps people would be more comfortable with “bring your own”? Please share your opinion in the reservation comments or via email. Donations can be adjusted accordingly.

Travel to Vermont: All participants will need to follow the travel guidance provided by the State of Vermont. This map shows counties with quarantine free travel. The map is updated every Friday.
