CPR Night at the Washburn Ambulance. Our new contact members from Sanford AirMed and Sanford EMS Education joined us for supper and introduced themselves. We practiced CPR scenarios in the room, and in the back of the ambulance.

4 Hours Ambulance Operations (At Risk Populations, Ambulance Safety, Hygiene/Safety/Vaccinations, EMS Culture of Safety)
Dr. Storms joined us this evening and discussed multiple topics regarding COVID and our operations in general. Parker clarified the Paramedic and Nurse's role in EMS under Dr. Storms and the state, guideline to follow. Parker sent out YouTube education regarding Diabetic Emergencies.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Prime rib, mac and cheese, and chicken strips filled our stomachs. We discussed the new PAPR hoods, the stair chair, the power cot, and the upcoming UV light for the ambulance.

Happy New Year!! Dr. Storms joined us and discussed a few questions we had about recent runs. We discussed the new cell phones, and reviewed the pediatric O2 sensors and how to hook them up.

Intermediate airways! We reviewed some outdated information (the state said we needed to), and we trained on new airways that we will be using when they arrive!

We watched some videos about a new cardiac monitor and discussed upgrading to the Ferno Tempus.

We had our first discussion regarding Pulsara - the new way to send a report to the hospital. Next, we discussed a new drug called Tranq (Xylazine), a drug cut with fentanyl that is not reversible and essentially sedates the patient.

Dr. Storms joined us tonight and reminded us to get a full set of vitals on ALL patients, even refusals if possible. This led us to determining a patient's CAPACITY to make decisions and refuse care if they desired. Reminder, call to speak with a physician if you are ever unsure! Finally, we discussed Pulsara again, which we will go live with soon to send reports to the hospital.

Sanford and CHI have collaborated on modifying trauma patient criteria, so we discussed those changes after scarfing down some great chicken, potatoes, and rice. Don't forget to keep track of your education on NREMT! Renewal has begun and is due by March 31st!
