Welcome
Welcome to the 2025-26 WUHSMS Mentor+ Program! I'm excited to have you join me - whether you are new to the building or are a returning member of the community - for a year-long exploration of teaching practices and professional development! This website will be the place where I post information and resources for the program and where we can curate the best of our findings throughout the year.
Guiding Philosophy
The two guiding principles for this program are these: No one does this job perfectly and no one does this job alone! This is true for first-year teachers and 30+-year veterans of the classroom. Given those principles, we will come together and commit to one another: we will not let one another feel alone and we will help one another progress in our quest to improve our practice!! Thank you for being humble enough to grow and generous enough to share.
Mentor+?? Why the +?
We think that what this program has to offer is intriguing enough to lure in teachers who are not part of a mentoring team - those who simply are looking for additional opportunities to grow, to learn, and to share. So, while our primary mission is to support our newest staff members - to help them thrive in this community, at this moment in time - our work will be generalizable for anyone to gain benefit. Thanks for joining us!!
About me
I'm Tim Brennan. I had the privilege of working at Woodstock Union High School for 31 years. I retired a the end of the 2023-24 school year and have been facilitating the school's mentoring program since then.
Though my career was in high school science classrooms, I firmly believe that our common challenges in the classroom far outweigh discipline-specific and grade-level-specific issues. We can learn so much from on another if we can focus on the common work.
