Honor Chorus Information

Honor Chorus is an awesome opportunity for our students to collaborate with musicians from other schools. This two-day rehearsal filled workshop concludes with a culminating performance. Students must be nominated by their music teacher to be considered to be a part of the Honor Chorus. Honor Chorus is an event sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association (a division of National Association for Music Education).
We have two different Honor Chorus opportunities available for our students:
GMEA District V (Fulton County, Georgia) Elementary Honor Chorus (4th-6th Grade Students)
GMEA Statewide Elementary Honor Chorus (4th-5th Grades)
Mr. White can nominate 7 students for district and 5 students for state. Other students may be listed as alternates. I know we have many students who want to participate. Everyone may not have the opportunity. This experience is only for a selct group of students.
GMEA District V Elementary Honor Chorus
(4th, 5th & 6th Grade Students)
Limited students will be selected.
Event Date:
Thursday, November 21, 2024 (1PM-4PM)
Friday, November 22, 2024 (10AM-6:00 PM)
*Concert begins at 5:30
Location:
Dunwoody United Methodist Church
(Parents will be responsible for transporting their student)
(About 20-25 minutes from Jackson)
Registration Cost:
$50 per student (Covered by school)
Concert Attire:
Students will wear event t-shirts (provided) with black pants/skirts (long or with black tights) and black shoes as our concert attire.
Students must attend both days of the event.
GMEA Statewide Elementary Honor Chorus
(4th & 5th Grade Students)
Limited students will be selected.
Event Date:
Friday, January 10, 2025 (11 AM-8:30 PM)
Saturday, January 11, 2025 (8 AM-12 PM)
*Concert begins at 11:30 AM
Location:
Classic Center, Athens, GA
(Parents will be responsible for transporting their student & lodging.)
Registration Cost:
$50 per student (Covered by school)
Concert Attire:
Attire will consist of solid black pants, black socks and black shoes; or solid black skirts with dark hose and black shoes with a solid white blouse or shirt (short or long sleeves). T-shirts will be available on site for sale, but will not be worn for the concert.
Students must attend both days of the event.
PLEASE NOTE:
Parents are responsible for transportation each day. Parents do not have to stay to watch rehearsal. Students will be supervised by certified teachers (including Mr. White) during rehearsals. Once the performers are selected, I will put the parents on one email so parents can organize a carpool if they prefer.
