Interactive contents development enabling the better presentation of fluid mechanics and hydraulic engineering concepts in engineering education
Funded by La Fondation Dassault Systèmes
· To create interactive animated contents on total pressure and centre of pressure to provide better understanding of the problems on tank, dams, lock gates.
· To create interactive simulation contents on Rapid varied flow and validate the results experimentally via channel design setup.
· To create interactive simulation contents on drawdown and backwater effects in the channel and validate the results experimentally.
· To create learning content using the simulation.
Important aspect of project is to
Creation of Virtual Reality (VR) simulation of Hydrostatics force which includes identification and generalisation of problems related to Total Pressure and Center of pressure on Tank, Dam and Lock gates
Design and fabrication of laboratory scale open channel setup for conducting experiments on varied flow conditions.
Creation of VR simulation of Rapid Varied Flow, especially hydraulic jump, which includes creating VR of possible conjugate depths along with rollers in a channel with the help of programming and then validating the results with the experimental setup.
Creation of VR simulation of Gradually Varied Flow (GVF) profiles in open channels which includes possible slopes formation in channel and validation of the results with the experimental results.
