Perfect attendance is required to qualify for a grade upgrade.
This means attending every class session, arriving on time, and remaining for the full class period.
Absences, tardiness, or leaving early will affect both participation and eligibility for the upgrade.
Attendance will be recorded daily. Students are responsible for signing in (if required) and ensuring their presence is documented.
Each student must create a personal course website using Google Sites (free of charge).
The website will serve as a digital portfolio, and must include:
A student profile/introduction page.
Posted assignments and reflections as instructed.
Any required multimedia submissions (videos, images, links to work).
Instructions for setting up the website will be provided during the first week of class. Websites should remain active and updated throughout the semester.
To succeed in this course, students must complete all assigned materials before the class in which they are discussed:
Films – A list of required films will be provided; screenings may take place in class or be assigned through streaming services.
Podcasts – Specific episodes or series will be listed in the syllabus. Students are expected to listen carefully and take notes.
Readings – Assigned texts will be available in the course packet, library reserves, or linked online.
Failure to complete assigned materials will directly impact participation grades and test performance.
Final grades will be determined by the following components:
Attendance – 30%
Consistent presence and punctuality.
Participation – 30%
Active engagement in discussions, group activities, and contributions to class learning.
Tests/Assessments – 40%
Includes quizzes, midterm, and/or final exam based on required readings, films, and podcasts.
Grade Upgrade Policy:
Students who maintain perfect attendance (no absences, no tardies) will receive a one-step grade increase (e.g., B+ to A-) at the end of the course.
Be present and on time — every class counts.
Build and maintain your Google Sites portfolio.
Complete all films, podcasts, and readings before class.
Engage in discussions and activities.
Prepare for and perform well on tests.
