INTERNATIONAL FIELD WORKSHOP WRB SOIL CLASSIFICATION IN ROMANIA
(September 16 – September 23, 2018)
DESCRIPTION
A field trip into a pedological mosaic of Transylvania is proposed for the 2018 workshop. The soil pattern is imposed by a varied relief starting from lowlands, with extensive alluvial terraces, to tablelands and mountains. During the workshop, we will experience a diversity of soils (approximately 20 soil profiles) that include Chernozems, Phaeozems, Luvisols, Cambisols, Technosols and soils with archeological interest formed in Roman Empire period heritage sites. Most of these soils show intensive and extensive agricultural land use including one of the biggest vineyards in Europe. This field workshop is sponsored by the IUSS Working Group WRB.
VENUE IN CLUJ-NAPOCA, ROMANIA
The Avram Iancu International Airport is serving the city of Cluj-Napoca being located at 9 km east of the city center and having flight connections with the biggest cities of Europe.
The first night from 16 to 17 September will be in Cluj-Napoca at the Victoria Hotel (address: Boulevard 21 Decembrie 1989), situated in the city center.
The field trip of the workshop will start at 08:15 AM, September 17th, from the entrance of the Victoria Hotel, Cluj-Napoca and it will be finished at 22:00 in the evening of September 22th in the Victoria Hotel, Cluj-Napoca.

Participation and registration fee
For the field trip of the workshop the number of the participants will be limited to 40 persons (the full capacity of the bus). Registration fee includes seven nights (from September 16th in the afternoon-evening till September 23rd in the morning), with seven breakfasts in the hotels, six box lunches (September 17th to September 22th) and six dinners (September 17th to September 22th; beverages limited), as well as transportation by bus, water during the day and the excursion guidebook. In the region 5, that includes the Western Carpathians territory we will offer just shared rooms.
Cancellation and repayment
100% - for cancellations until 1st of July, 2018;
80% - for cancellations until 1st of August, 2018;
No refund for cancellations after 1st of August, 2018.
Unfortunately we must charge 40 Euros in case of refund to cover the bank commission fee.
