Post 16 Summer School: July 2022
What to expect
Our post 16 online Summer School includes:
A chance to experience a taster in one academic subject of your choice Subjects include: Chemistry, English, Global Studies, Maths, Mechanical Engineering, Philosophy, Law, Criminology, Economics and Media.
Live sessions with the university academic for your chosen subject ( you do not need to have your camera or audio on)
Produce a short academic assignment in relation to your subject choice, support will be given via various online platforms, resources, university academics & student ambassadors
Optional information sessions including student finance, Careers & study skills
Optional live chats with our current University of Sussex Student ambassadors to gain an insight into University life
Optional social activities with other summer school students including a quiz and an interactive activity
Connect with other students across Sussex, London and the UK
Participate from home, timetable will be provided, limited live sessions, complete optional sessions in your own tim
The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 26th June 2020
Who can apply
Applications are open to all Year 12 and 13 students, however priority will be given to those who live in an area identified as a low-participation neighbourhood or area of deprivation. You can check whether you live in one of these areas by entering your postcode into the postcode checkers on our selection criteria page.
We will also consider applications from those who meet at least one of the following criteria:
has been in receipt of free school meals in the last five years
is a young carer
has been or is in local authority care
those with a disability
mature learners
those in receipt of bursaries from a post 16 provider
those who meet other Widening Participation criteria
The programme is open to all Year 12 students and Year 13 students who have not yet decided about university or applied to a university or have had a change of direction.
