The lead ship of the Illustrious-class carriers. To ensure that the ship was capable of remaining in action after sustaining damage, she was designed with a completely armored hangar in which the aircraft would shelter. Putting so much weight high in the ship only allowed a single-storey hangar due to stability concerns.
