The project was notable for the 457 mm main guns, which were developed in the early 1920s and were the most powerful British naval artillery systems.

Ship Play-style
Thunderer is basically a sister ship of Conqueror that is armed with eight 457mm guns instead. These guns, along with her cruiser like turning time are the major selling points of Thunderer. Her HE shells pack serious penetration with the IFHE skill, and can citadel other ships with it every now and then, dealing massive damage, along with her high fire chance of over 22% which can easily set enemies ablaze. Her armor however leaves much to be desired, being unable reliably to protect her from even cruiser guns, although this is offset to a degree by her cruiser like maneuverability. Thunderer is best played at long to medium range due to her bad armor, but can confidently take on cruisers at close range if you are wary of their torpedoes.
