Students of White Oaks beware! Here, a thief lurks in our halls. They prey on poor students who forget to lock their locks, or who publicly announce their combination. Items are not always stolen, but your lock is, and then later replaced by another lock. Now, you are forcefully locked out!
Do you not think it can happen to you? Well it happened to me. Walking back after sitting in the halls, I noticed my lock was missing. I was going to come back to get my belongings, only to find that someone had put a new lock on my locker! Being locked out , I emailed the Vice Principal. We met up, got the janitor and the new lock was cut off. All of my belongings were still in there, which was a nice surprise, but I am not the only one. Personally, I know 3 other students who this has happened to, and some have yet to get their lockers back.
Why would someone be doing this? Well, there are three possibilities. Firstly, they might need a locker and yours just happens to be the perfect one. They wait, then take your locker when you least expect it, then use it like it's theirs. Secondly, they might be playing pranks. This I feel is most likely, because when my locker was stolen by the locker thief, they used a cheap Dollarama lock, and they were not using my locker for anything. Maybe, they are locking people out just to mess with the students. Thirdly, though this theory is unlikely, some students believe that the locker thief is a gremlin who lives in the walls, and feeds on student’s frustration. Since White Oaks has been so peaceful, the locker gremlin is getting hungry. Your locker could be next.
Preventative measures are needed in this situation. Remember to lock your lock, double check when you use it, and remember, never share your code, because someone might overhear. Finally, as an extra precaution, cover your lock so no one can see you doing your combination. It's pretty easy to memorize the numbers visually. If these don’t work, and you unfortunately become a victim to this crime, remember to reach out to someone, so you can get your locker back!
So, beware of the locker thief (We hope it's not a locker gremlin). Remember to take care of your combination, so you never get locked out!
