TRAILER & SYNOPSIS
Through the eyes of Randell Adjei, we understand the gravity of the issues facing Scarborough youth today. Amidst gun violence, poverty, and stigmatization, we see resilience through community, art, and a passion for change. This resilience is highlighted through R.I.S.E., a spoken word event that has been quietly operating in Malvern for the last 6 years and changing lives, including that of the director, Dizzy Ricamara.
What Audiences are saying about Worst Student Ever...
As a Scarborough youth, I never heard positive representations of my community in the media. Worst Student Ever speaks to the power each of us have to make a change around us, and highlights some of the brilliant stories of Scarborough leaders, mentors, and how everyday people show up for each other.
This film is a must see!
Worst Student Ever is a deeply compelling portrayal of one of the most phenomenal organizations in the city of Toronto. We need more of these stories told by people who can do them justice, as this team as done skillfully in this intimate work following Randell and Rise's journey.
I left feeling inspired and in awe!
Worst Student Ever is a catalyst for relevant and necessary socio-political dialogue, especially in Toronto. Beyond that, impressively, it is presented in a both visually stunning and overall compelling way - which I find deeply impressive for a short documentary film.
In these times, this film gave me hope.
