Privacy Policy for WorryBugs
Effective Date: March 15, 2025
Welcome to WorryBugs! We are committed to protecting your privacy. WorryBugs is a personal journaling app designed to provide a quiet, comforting space for reflection. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used and handled, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
a. Data You Provide (Stored Locally): All information you enter into the WorryBugs app — including your worries, reflections, names you give to your WorryBugs, and any other textual inputs (collectively, "Personal Journal Data") — is stored exclusively locally on your device. We, the developers of WorryBugs, do not collect, transmit, access, or store this Personal Journal Data on any external servers or for any purpose other than enabling the app's functionality on your device.
b. Automatically Collected Diagnostic Data (via Firebase): To help us understand app performance, identify issues, and improve user experience, we use Google Firebase services (Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics). These services may automatically collect certain anonymized or pseudonymized information, including but not limited to: • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version. • Crash Reports: Information related to app crashes, including device state at the time of the crash (but not your Personal Journal Data). • Usage Statistics: Aggregated and anonymized data about how you interact with the app, such as features used and session duration. This helps us understand which features are most helpful. • Instance IDs: Firebase may use identifiers like instance IDs to differentiate app instances for analytics and crash reporting. These are not used by us to personally identify you or link to your Personal Journal Data.
This diagnostic data is processed in a way that does not personally identify you and is not linked with your Personal Journal Data.
How We Use Your Information
• Personal Journal Data (Stored Locally): This data is used solely to provide the app's journaling features to you on your device. You are in control of this data. We do not access, use, or share it. • Diagnostic Data (Firebase): This data is used for internal purposes such as: • Monitoring and analyzing app performance and stability. • Identifying and fixing bugs or crashes. • Understanding user engagement to improve app features and usability.
Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
We use the following third-party services: • Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics): As described above, for app diagnostics and analytics. Google has its own privacy policy that governs its data collection and use. You can review Google’s Privacy Policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personal Journal Data to outside parties. Anonymized and aggregated diagnostic data may be used by us to understand trends and improve our services, and by Google as per their policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
• Personal Journal Data (Stored Locally): This data remains on your device as long as the app is installed and you do not clear the app’s data or uninstall it. You can delete your Personal Journal Data at any time by: • Deleting individual entries or worries within the app (if such functionality is provided). • Clearing the app’s data through your device’s settings. • Uninstalling the WorryBugs app from your device. • Diagnostic Data (Firebase): This data is collected and managed by Google Firebase. While it is anonymized or pseudonymized and not directly linked to your Personal Journal Data by us, data retention is subject to Google's policies. Users typically cannot directly delete this specific diagnostic data from Firebase servers through our app, but it is not personally identifiable to us in the context of your journal entries.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
• Accessing and Correcting Local Data: You can access and modify your Personal Journal Data directly within the app. • Device-Level Controls: You can manage app permissions through your device settings. For diagnostic data collected by Firebase, you may have device-level options (such as "Limit Ad Tracking" or "Opt-out of Ads Personalization" on Android, or similar settings on other platforms) that can affect how identifiers are used by Google services. However, these settings may not completely stop the collection of all non-personalized diagnostic data by Firebase needed for basic analytics and crash reporting. • Data Deletion: As stated in Section 4, you can delete your local Personal Journal Data. For requests concerning data potentially held by Google Firebase, you would need to refer to Google's privacy policy and available tools.
Children’s Privacy
WorryBugs is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information (as defined by COPPA and similar regulations) from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with information without your consent, please contact us at sukisandhudev@gmail.com, and we will take steps to address the issue. Since Personal Journal Data is stored locally, parents can manage it by accessing their child's device.
Data Security
We rely on the security features of your mobile device's operating system to protect the Personal Journal Data stored locally. For diagnostic data handled by Firebase, Google implements its own security measures to protect that data.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
