For over a century Canadians have designated Arbor Day as the day to celebrate our nation’s natural beauty. On this Arbor Day, the Canadian Sustainable Forest Trust invites you to join us in continuing this tradition of honouring our nation’s forests and wilderness.
Did you know that the name Arbor comes from the Latin for Tree?
Here are a few facts about the humble tree:
Trees provide homes and habitats for innumerable wildlife and are a critical part of our forest ecosystems.
An average tree produces 260 pounds of oxygen each year.
Two mature trees provide enough oxygen for a family of four.
In addition to producing oxygen, trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping fight global warming.
Trees provide for natural beauty and a lovely shady place to read a nice book or have a picnic!
If you like trees as much as we do, please consider making a one time or recurring monthly donation to the Canadian Sustainable Forest Trust at wwww.csft.org.
