Effective Date: June 19, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Word Editor application for Android (package name: com.ai.wordeditor), developed and operated by App Tools Lab ("we", "us", "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.
Word Editor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers. All data is stored locally on your device only:
Documents: Word files (.docx) you create or edit, stored in locations you choose on your device.
Recent file list: File names, URIs, sizes, and last-opened timestamps of recently opened files, stored in SharedPreferences.
App preferences: Your settings such as theme mode (light/dark/system) and language preference.
Purchase status: A local flag indicating whether you have purchased the Pro version, verified through Google Play.
Edit count: The number of document editing sessions you have used (for free tier limit tracking).
The free version of Word Editor integrates third-party services that may independently collect data:
Google AdMob (free version only):
Device information (device model, operating system version)
Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID)
IP address
App usage data and ad interaction data
Approximate location (derived from IP address)
For details, see Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data disclosure. Upgrading to the Pro version removes all ads and stops AdMob data collection entirely.
Google Play Billing:
Purchase transaction records
Google account information related to the purchase
This data is processed by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not access, process, or use any of your personal data. All locally stored data is used solely to provide app functionality:
Documents: To open, edit, and save your Word files.
Recent file list: To display your recently opened files for quick access.
App preferences: To apply your chosen theme and language settings.
Purchase status and edit count: To determine Pro access and free tier limits.
We do not sell, rent, or share any of your data with third parties. The only data shared with third parties is collected independently by the third-party SDKs described in Section 1.2.
We share data with the following third parties solely for the purposes described:
Google AdMob: Receives device and usage data for the purpose of serving personalized advertisements (free version only). You can opt out of personalized ads through your device's Google Settings > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Google Play Billing: Receives purchase-related data for the purpose of processing in-app purchases.
We do not share data with any other third parties.
Since all app data is stored locally on your device, data is retained for as long as you keep the app installed or until you choose to delete it. We do not retain any of your data on our servers.
Documents: Retained on your device until you manually delete them.
Recent file list: Retained until you clear it within the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
App preferences and edit count: Retained until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
Purchase status: The local flag is removed when you clear app data or uninstall. Your purchase record is retained by Google Play as long as your Google account is active.
Third-party data: Data collected by Google AdMob and Google Play is retained according to Google's data retention policies.
You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time through the following methods:
Documents: Delete files directly from your device's file manager or from within the app.
Recent file list: Swipe to remove individual entries, or clear all recent files from within the app.
All app data at once: Go to your device's Settings > Apps > Word Editor > Storage > Clear Data to remove all locally stored data, including preferences, recent file history, and edit count.
Complete removal: Uninstalling the app will remove all app data from your device.
To request deletion of data held by third-party services:
Google advertising data: Reset your Advertising ID via your device's Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID.
Google account data: Visit Google's Data & Privacy page to manage data associated with your Google account.
Contact us: You may also contact us (see Section 11) and we will assist you with any data deletion request within 30 days.
We take the following measures to protect your data:
All data remains stored locally on your device — we operate no servers that store user data.
All network communications (ad loading and purchase verification) are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
The app enforces a network security configuration that disables cleartext (unencrypted) HTTP traffic.
We recommend keeping your device secured with a screen lock and keeping your operating system up to date to protect your local data.
You have the following rights regarding your data:
Right to access: All your data is stored locally on your device and is directly accessible to you at any time.
Right to deletion: You can delete any or all of your data at any time using the methods described in Section 5.
Right to opt out: You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's Google advertising settings, or upgrade to the Pro version to remove all ads.
Right to withdraw consent: You can revoke storage permissions at any time through your device's Settings > Apps > Word Editor > Permissions.
To exercise any of these rights or if you have questions, please contact us (see Section 11).
The app may request the following device permissions:
Storage Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to open and save Word documents on your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
Internet (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used for displaying advertisements (free version) and verifying in-app purchases through Google Play. No user-created content is transmitted over the internet.
Word Editor is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our app, please contact us (see Section 11) and we will promptly delete such information.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Changes will be reflected in app updates and on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
